Akron won the MAC East Division. Much like I told your buddy earlier, you don’t need to make things up to try to strengthen your argument.

And since you’re the one that brought up the media...

Could you link me to one media source, anywhere, that considered Purdue relatively hot after their 3-4 start? They were on a 2 game losing streak and coming off a loss to Rutgers.

Based on betting odds Purdue was expected to be 3-4 after their first 7 games.

Underdog vs Louisville (LOSS)
Favorite vs Ohio (WIN)
Underdog vs Missouri (WIN)
Underdog vs Michigan (LOSS)
Favorite vs Minnesota (WIN)
Underdog vs Wisconsin (LOSS)
Favorite vs Rutgers (LOSS)

Expected W-L record- 3-4
Actual W-L record- 3-4

They didn’t even surpass expectations record-wise at the time of the Nebraska game.

Were they unexpectedly competitive in some of their games? Sure.
Hot? No.

You’re reaching badly.

RE: Toledo vs App State Line
So the choice of words “a hot Purdue team” was wrong. This section of a article written prior to the Purdue/Nebraska game describes Purdue’s level of play at the time of their game vs. Nebraska ....

“Purdue most recently lost to Rutgers, 14-12, on the road. Despite the loss, the Boilermakers outgained the Scarlet Knights 474 yards to 217 yards. That is likely one of the reasons Nebraska is the underdog at Purdue on Saturday. Another? Three out of Purdue’s four losses this season have come against teams nationally ranked at game time. Two of those losses were also by 8 or fewer points”.

So as this article is attempting to highlight, Purdue was playing well when Nebraska beat them.
I also made a mistake when I said Nebraska was leading Wisconsin in the 3rd quarter; you were absolutely correct; they were tied. So I stand guilty of “making $hit up” based on this misrepresentation,
and the Purdue being “hot” statement. What I stand by is, relative to the rest of the teams on our schedule this year, Nebraska was not trash. In spite of their poor record I have them as the 3rd best team we played all year. If you don’t agree that is perfectly okay. I spent way too much time on this already.

To quote yourself.... trash is a subjective/relative term. I think it fits Nebraska quite well because they...

A.) Underperformed (Preseason over/under of 7 wins, finished with 4 wins)

and

B.) Had their lowest win total since 1961.

So yeah I’ll stick with trash. Thank you for retracting your “hot” statement.

Damn, I should have wrote...Nebraska beat a solid Purdue team who got “hot” winning 4 of its last 5 games including a bowl victory over Arizona.

I guess Duke beat a hot NIU team, ya know, because NIU exceeded preseason expectations.

And nobody familiar with our schedule should have been predicting 2-4 wins this year.

It would have been difficult given how weak the MAC was for NIU to not win an absolute minimum of 5 games this season.

Hot? No.

At the time Purdue was 3-2, there were ESPN talking heads and internet stories portraying the Boilermakers as being hot -- or at least far more than just unexpectedly competitive -- because the former Western Kentucky coach had renewed enthusiasm in the program.
Fine, when they were 3-4, people stopped referring to them as hot.
But considering their finish, beating IU for the Old Oaken Bucket rivalry trophy, yesterday's bowl win over Arizona, it's safe to say Purdue fans are more optimistic than NIU fans considering the number of folks who are either anti-Carey or anti-Childers.

I’m still waiting on these internet stories calling Purdue hot even at 3-2. I don’t think they exist and this isn’t the first mention of them.

You got a link to a couple?
