butts in seats doesn't matter any more - there were more than enough commercials to keep ESPN happy

Felt bad for the FIU quarterback who got hurt early, he apparently is a Tampa kid playing his left game, tough way to go out.

I commend you for your tireless onslaught. I know with our current contract period, bowl season to you is like a kid on Christmas day.

Its a winning mathmatical formula for you for sure:

Bad Bowls + G4 Opponents
____________________________ = Quo Happy Place
Bad attendance

Proceed.

I don't care about attendance per se, just saw that people were asking about it and nobody had posted the number.

Am surprised it was so low, would have expected a lot of drive-ups from the Miami area for FIU, and if i lived in Philly and supported Temple, I'd want to spend a few days before Christmas in Tampa Bay as well.

FIU is still growing a fan base. Folks in Miami think of St Pete as like driving to Jacksonville...hard to get the locals to leave the 305.

They showed like 15 Temple fans: curious as to the lack of fans...lots of people in Tampa Bay from PA

Hmmm, bowl win or attendance, which is better? Oh, sorry cuse fan, you can’t answer that.

Cool you beat a Sunbelt team without their QB in front friends and family.

The bitterness in your post is a wonder to behold. Let’s review your sad statement:
You beat a Sunbelt team... Yes we won our bowl game, kind of like Syracuse use to do. We were playing a Sunbelt team because we had a mediocre season and got invited to the last American bowl game. As was pointed out by ESPN numerous times during the game, Temple won 3 of its last 4 to be eligible. Proud of the team and first year coach for that.
without their QB... well FIU had their starting QB at the beginning of the game, and he got hurt running the ball. It’s a shame for the kid and his team but thats the risk of running your QB.
in front friends and family... in front OF friends and family. Actually Temple did ok attendance wise, certainly not great, but OK. This is from speaking with folks who attended. And we had more fans attend our bowl this year than the Orange!
Anyway I hate to see someone so depressed during the holidays. Try to have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

You might but most people wouldn't.

Schools hang some sort of banner at their stadium for bowl appearances/wins. Nobody puts up banners over some team they beat in the regular season...ever.

Meanwhile, most of the country wonders if Syracuse still plays football.

63>0

And please don’t lie to yourself-really, 4-8 is better than 7-6 and a bowl win?

And the reason Temple was kicked out of the Big East was two-fold: Temple did not invest in their football, leading to poor game performance and attendance, but also because we demanded that our basketball team be in the BE, and were denied. Instead, you geniuses invited Rutgers basketball! Anyway, congratulations on being the first poster to bring that up. +2 for originality.

Yeah, maybe, but not enough butts in seats to "wow" the bowl executives on the next bowl tie-in negotiations. This conference needs better bowls. At least, that's what everybody says.

I took it in early September...and moved on.

Sure it is fun to play in a bowl game but I'll take a win over the Defending National Champ and current #1 ranked team anyday over a bowl win in front 6-8k fans

And so would Vick if he is being honest

All the Cuse, BC, and Rutgers fans can't seem to cope with the fact that we got kicked out of the Big East and are still leaving them in the dust.

I think if anything it served as more of an embarrassment to CUSA and FIU to play in a bowl game with so few going to the game. If UCF ever plays in the Miami Beach Bowl they will take at least 10,000 people.

I'd rather be kicked out of the BE than out of the AAU like Syracuse. What an embarrassment!

Looking at trends, I'd take the research university in Philadelphia over the overpriced nothing in a depopulated icebox any day.

I take back the joke about Wichita. The loser gets a two-week paid stay for two in Syracuse.
