Rest in Peace George Mans
George Mans, head coach 1974-1975, died this week, he had been fighting lymphoma.

He was a player and then assistant coach at Michigan during Bo's early years.

Recent writeup at Michigan:

I had met him many times, he was a great man.

RE: Rest in Peace George Mans
Dear Block_E,
I thought when George was named Eastern's coach, that he was going to revive the program, and bring it to new heights. Of course it didn't happen, and I'm not sure why. The more I thought about it, I think he just wasn't cut out to be a head coach. I don't mean that as a slap to his work ethic, or anything else. There are some people that just don't work out, and I think George was one of those.
I also was able to meet him, and would agree that he was a genuine guy.

Mans left Eastern when the university decided to make a commitment to Men's Basketball without a similar one to Football. Wasn't going to accept being an afterthought on his own campus.
