RE: JMU to get indoor practice facility
have we ever had a high academic profile? we will ever? i'm no genius, and more than likely was not smart enough to get into jmu out of high school. i went to old dominion and i have made a very good life for myself off the back of my education and hard work. i am thankful. with that said, we don't have to enjoy a high academic profile in order for our athletic department to make good decisions or for our student athletes to perform well on the field of play.

RE: JMU to get indoor practice facility
Yes, we're miserable in CUSA. However, we'd be more miserable in the CAA. We dominated that level of football right out of the gates. How many I-AA titles would we have by now if we had stayed in pee-wee football? How many of those championships would anyone outside of Norfolk care about? As for basketball, there isn't a single team in the CAA that moves the needle. As much as it sucks to play the dregs of CUSA who pull down our RPI, at least we have a handful of meaningful games each year. That wouldn't be the case in the CAA. All the meaningful teams left and they backfilled with a bunch of nobodies. No thanks.

They also have been recognized as one of the TOP-20 Universities in the south. Can we say the same for ODU ?

You might be right, but I'm not giving them credit for jack sh__. Their troll fans coming to our boards are to thank for that.

You guys did under 20 last year.

Nice try. Regular season attendance at JMU has been higher than ODU for years, and this season exceeded 23k. Only when you add in the post-season games does JMU attendance drop into the 19k range.

Say, when is ODU going to have ESPN Game Day on your campus? 07-coffee3

Guess winning the little leagues is getting a little boring so it's time to take a flyer bragging to a school you never beat--in hardly anything.

Instead of blaming your consistent losses on a 5'10" QB who led FCS startup walkons (still laughing at that "once-in-a-lifetime" LOL), you should just be more realistic and thank your lucky stars that the real players left the CAA allowing you guys to start winning again.

All we need now is to invite Mount Union to the boards and we'll have all levels present.

So cute.

right. because we didn't win the title in 2004 or make the semis and ranked #1 all year in 2008.

yep. success just came to us because ODU left the building.

i got to say, it's downright hilarious seeing the meltdown on here.

fact is - you guys are miserable in CUSA. it's freakin funny!

The only ones miserable in CUSA are the ones that have aspirations of P5 involvement. I dont think many ODU fans are interested on playing Elon and New Hampshire.

So much success bookending the era when JMU competed directly with ODU.

RE: JMU to get indoor practice facility
To the ODU poster that said let's be honest...I will never feel that ODU football or anything else is irrelevant. I'm a proud Monarch through and through and think that the real life impact of an ODU education is having a better effect on society than one from JMU. But don't get me wrong, I don't expect any JMU grad to feel the same about ODU.

I realize that might make some of you think I'm a homer with blue glasses and all that. I'm just a proud as hell Monarch...had offers to an Ivy and the state's highest profile public but chose to go against the grain and I'm so glad I did. But you all feel free to continue to amuse the JMU fans with your "woe-is-me" attitudes.

ODU started football from scratch, moved into FCS and won immediately, and then moved on because it could. JMU and others didn't and I agree with ODUAlum78 that they didn't because financially they couldn't. And the factual information about athletic performance and head-to-head tells me all that I need to know about who we are and who they are. ESPN Gamedays are great for them, but so are the 28 national titles and all those NCAA trophies sitting in our glass cases. Try not to let the trolls belittle your view of yourselves.

So carry on with the nonsense. I will check back in about a week because life is real busy as a successful and proud ODU alumnus.

you had a once in a lifetime player in Heineke. Theres zippy chance you would win if the teams squared off again. That's a damn mortal lock!

Sure sure sure. Just like the multi year 56-0 predictions you’d throw on us back when played little boy football.

Couldn't agree more, you've articulated thoughts I've always cultivated each time I read a post from an ODU fan that I thought was so self-deprecating.

NCAA says 21,724 for 2017. That's what's been reported. No quantifying necessary.

a Georgia State fan talking about someone else's attendance. Isn't that cute.
Someone went and looked up the official attendance and you have an issue? Facts bother you?

that's fine, you can feel what you want... but we actually are irrelevant in the world of division 1 college football. our current athletic leadership doesn't appear yet to have the horses to change that
