Hazed is right. It's the new standard since a bunch of the FCS powers bolted. Hence my first post.

They've been top 5 every year since they fired Mickey and won 1 title. They're doing what they're built to do.

I remember when they all said it would take us 10 years to compete with them..... so maybe in 2021 I'll have less animus, maybe not.

I meant present going forward. We just gave the coaching staff raises, CGD has been on campus twice in three years, the stadium is not comparable to a huge majority of fcs programs, we have been on national TV a hell of a lot for an fcs program. Two NC appearance in two years. All recent.

f JMU does not remain a top 5 fcs program for years to come, JMU is underperforming.

Personally, I am a casual fcs fan. Wrong or right, the fcs product does not hold my attention beyond knowing scores and a game or two a year.

I want JMU in a regional FBS conference.

I agree with this. When looking at all the teams that have moved to FBS over the last decade or so, there are only about 5 teams that should be of any competition for JMU in any given season. With the money and facilities they have, there is no excuse for the Dukes not to be top 10, and probably top 5 every season. My guess is they will win a couple more NCs over the next 10 years at which point their fans will be clamoring to move up and stop beating up on the "little kids". I'd think the same thing for NDSU. App St, Ga So, WKU, Marshall, UMass, Boise, ODU, UConn etc are all gone. Basically leaving Delaware (what happened to them?!?), Towson and the rest of the CAA plus Youngstown, Montana, NDSU and the MVC. They should just go ahead and make a bowl with the champ from the CAA vs. the champ from the MVC.

Moving to FBS would put JMU in the same financial situation that we are facing for funding their athletic department based on the Cox bill. From what i remember, in approximate numbers i thought UVA and Tech could only fund approximately 25% of their athletic budget through student fees. We could only fun approximately 55% through fees and the FCS schools could fund approximately 75%. I thought i read somewhere that JMU was close to that 75% level now. If they had to shave 15-20% off of their athletic budget a lot of the items on their wish list would go away.

The beauty for JMU is their stadium doesn't need upgrades for G5 and the new arena wont be impacted by the bill at all. They got it in on time, whereas we didn't. That makes this move much easier when neither are impacted.

I will also add that from their own reports, JMU would just need to change where they account for different expenses to get in line with the Cox bill. For example, moving the band from athletics to the music department.
