Yikes, Gonzaga really needed that one. And the WCC. It's shaping up again where the top three WCC teams are going to have iffy numbers, even if they have decent records. No meat on the bones except against each other, and that isn't saying much.

I'm keeping my eye on Penn State this year. The conference is uneven to the point where a school like them could get to a "safe spot" in conference wins (it's usually ten wins; only Ohio State a few years ago has gotten there and not made the tournament) combined with historic and notorious inconsistent road play. KP's got them as a top-50 team (right outside 40, actually), and RPI had them (before the loss) in the top 100. Could be like that 2011 team that had no business being in the tournament, but got there because of the "broken numbers" in the Big Ten. Play competently enough, and they're definitely NIT material...scratching my head why when they are 0-3 vs. top-150 RPI so far.

Not sure this counts as laughable. auburn is P5. UConn is horrible this year and has been mediocre the past three years (finished 6th in the AAC the past two years)

The score didn't reflect it, but Missouri was getting its butt whooped by Illinois for most of that game. Missouri was a top-5 RPI club, but still unranked heading into the game; Illinois not even a top-150. Missouri came close to bringing it even toward the end.

NMSU played really well last night. Now they get USC, although not as strong as past incarnations of the team, they still are a P5 school. In just over a week, if NMSU were to win, they would have beaten a Big 10 (Illinois), ACC (Miami) and Pac 12 (USC) team. Not too bad.
