Holton Ahlers
Apparently Dan Mullen & the Florida Gators offered ECU QB commit Holton Ahlers last night in an attempt to flip him. Georgia has offered as well. The big 6'3" 235lbs lefty has garnered a lot of interest this past year. Very thankful that he spurned those other offers and will be a PIRATE next year!

I don't think ECU fans have been this excited about a recruit in a decade or more.

10,829 Passing Yards
141 Passing TD's

3,544 Rushing Yards
56 Rushing TD's

This past season he threw for 57 TD's and only 3 INT's.

He was just the MVP of the Shrine Bowl (NC vs SC All-Star Game)

He is the type of guy that has the ability to help bring back to where we need to be! A real leader with exceptional talent.

Definitely the most excited i have been for a recruit in a long time. Especially for the position he is at. I believe he will attract a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball when he starts producing. This is the type of commit we need. I just pray Mo is the right guy for us as a coach

Good get and congrats on holding on to him. The conference needs a strong ECU program and looks like you guys are on the way back. 04-cheers

RE: Holton Ahlers
I expected he would sign but was a little bit nervous. This is one of the only positives for us right now. I believe he's underrated as a high 3*/low 4* recruit. He has been a Pirate fan his whole life & he's a big time leader. Our recruiting class isn't the most impressive in this conference this year but QB is by far the most important position and this guy has a good shot at being a 4-year starter.

Maybe Holton will do a Gunner Kiel and play 6 or 7 years for the Pirates. Kidding aside, I believe we will see great things from this young man.

A kid like that can fix a lot of coaching deficits.

The fact that he stayed with ECU is a nice validation for the entire conference, IMO.

I don't see that happening as much in the SB, MAC, or C-USA.

UF got Emory Jones
UGA got Justin Fields

I think they're okay.

Apparently, Nick Saban tried to lure him away at the last minute as well.

I don't think that was remotely close to the point. Of course they're ok...

The point is that Florida and Bama offered him in the past 24 hours, and UGA offered him a couple months ago, and he stayed put. That doesn't happen every day. We're lucky he's so committed.

We are, and it's obviously a special set of circumstances that allowed us to get him, but that hasn't stopped us from missing out before on big time guys with big time ties to ECU. Hopefully he can live up to the hype, because it's massive and especially with how far the program has fallen.

Not everybody gives Nick Saban the brushoff. After hearing from him last night: "He said he would talk to me tomorrow and I kind of hinted to him that I was going to be done at 7:00 and I was going where I wanted to be...I'm glad to be a Pirate"
