RE: California, we told you so!
For a state that prides itself on ecology it's mind boggling to see a city prohibit rain water collection. I think it's in LA, the article I read was about a year ago.

We've raised minimum wage many times. To improve the lives of those on minimum wage. It has never done so. But maybe the next 20 times will work.

"The Employment Policies Institute is a fiscally conservative non-profit American think tank that conducts research on employment issues such as minimum wage and health care. It was established in 1991 and has been described as "a nonprofit research group that studies issues of entry-level employment."

ok, how does any of that negate anything? Anyone with half a brain and at least one basic economics course would know the outcome of raising the minimum wage to $15. These results were to be expected and were foretold.

Right after that $15/hr minimum wage garbage went big time, so did the rise in fast food restaurants and other restaurants allowing online orders or even putting machines IN the store to order from instead of having to deal with a rude, POS when all you want is to order a cheeseburger the way you enjoy it.

Libs priced their constituents right out of their jobs.

LOLz.

Quote:A newly released longitudinal study on the effects of the rising minimum wage in California reveals it negatively affects low-income workers.

“[A]pproximately 400,000 jobs would be lost” by 2022 “as a consequence” of California gradually imposing the first statewide $15 minimum wage, according to a study from the Employment Policies Institute, a conservative nonprofit research organization. “This estimate is conservative, as it measures the impact of California’s state minimum wage but does not account for job loss in counties that had insufficient data.”

The law will disproportionately harm the very people that lawmakers claim they want to help the most: low-skilled workers. “[N]early half of the observed job loss occurs in food service and retail industries,” the study concludes.

California is one of the most expensive place to live. $15 an hour minimum wage is really nothing. It seems less. People will still struggle to make ends meet to live off of $15 an hour. Anything less in California is slave labor.

Once again the problem with minimum wage is that no matter the amount, it will always be minimum wage and those on it will always cry about it.

Come on, now. That would make too much sense. We can't have that now, can we? Especially with the leftist lunatic fringe running the show out there. (See Governor "Moonbeam" Brown.)

Not at all. Why should the facts upset anyone.

I'm simply pointing out that the information you are getting from this institution is coming from a conservative source so take that with a grain of salt. I'm not suggesting that it's all false. I'm simply lending perspective.

Facts that are pertinent shouldn't bother anyone. Facts that are distractions should.

Your own link says 'Fiscally conservative.'

Not at all the same as being socially conservative, much less Republican. If they were, I'm sure you could find a description by someone who says that...

Why is there something wrong or even political with being fiscally conservative?

Are you implying that Democrats can't possibly seek value for our tax dollars?

It doesn't say socially conservatives because their isn't anything social about what they do. They simply do research from a fiscally conservatives viewpoint. Which is to say they are going to hype anything that is in favor of being fiscally conservatives and down play anything that isn't.

The "problem" with being fiscally conservative is that it comes from a philosophy that there is a finite amount of wealth and therefore, you most conserves what you have.

WHOA!!!

What you just described is actually liberalism.

Liberals think there's a finite pie and that the pie should be sliced evenly.

Conservatives think that you can always make the pie bigger.
