Most of our recruits will be doing the same.

Do we have an idea of how many more spots are left in this recruiting class beyond the 20 commitments?

I think the new early signing period is really interesting. As a staff recruiting these kids it will be interesting to see how they handle it. For a school like WMU you almost have to treat this first signing period as a signal as to who's really in, and then potentially move on from the rest.
Most of these guys have been committed for 6 to 9 months, if they don't sign early, are they really committed? Personally, I would move on if a kid doesnt sign on early.

I agree that this should be very interesting. We'll see some guys find out where they stand with P5 aspirations. And it should help the undecided guys make their decisions as the remaining spots for their positions start to fill up. Some will take their time during the process and I wouldn't hold it against them if they wait until Feb.

I agree I wouldn't hold it against them, say if they were recruited in the last month, because maybe that relationship is relatively new, and they've only been to campus once or twice.
But for the guys that have been "committed" for a while and don't sign. That almost signals to me they are using Western as a holding place. I wouldn't be too keen on that.
Just my personal feeling on it. Not saying it's right for these coaches and their program.

I can't remember where I saw it but if a player is committed and doesn't send their LOI in the early period, then they're not committed. Doesn't mean they won't end up where they are committed but if that happens to one of our guys, I'd make sure another player is ready to go in Feb.
