El-Julian "JuJu" Jordan decommits
Following 13-1 with 6-6 doesn't seem to be boding too well.

It has been discussed in the recruiting thread.

He likely saw how we were pursuing other QBs still (Rector and Scott Jr.), plus Eleby is better than him. And he would have Wassink and Goddard ahead of him. That's a lot of talented people he'd have to beat out for a shot at seeing the field.

It happens. You can't have too many top-flight QBs because eventually some of them realize they're not going to get playing time and they bolt (Stewart, Flacco).

I don't think it's in most Detroit kids' DNA to be scared of competition. That's just a narrative of us fans to feel better when a kid de-commits. More likely, there is something else going on we likely will never know about, because this young man took his WMU stuff down off his twitter before we started recruiting other QB's.

It's far more likely that WMU began recruiting Rector and Scott as a reaction to Jordan cooling on his commitment, even if it's mutual, than the other way around. Guys don't announce decommitments right away all the time, and coaching staffs cant say anything.

Wish him well. He has a talented arm.

He was one of our first commits and has been with us for 8 months. Strange that he would decommit a couple days before signing day. This might've been a long time coming, but it's weird timing.

We'll probably never know the whole story. It will be interesting to see where he goes. His other offers were BGSU and EMU. BG has Bryce Veasley out of West Bloomfield committed, and EMU has Aaron Jackson out of Cass Tech.

Is it possible that another school has swooped in at the last minute, desperate to fill out their class? Low level P5 maybe?

Its also possible that he just doesn't want to commit this cycle... he wants to go deep into the rest of the recruiting process thinking he can get something that lines up better with what he wants... He may have felt like he had a chance early and then WMU brings in Lindsey Scott...

My guess is that the Lindsey Scott lottery may look a little better for WMU... and it didn't sit well with El-Julian...

Following the recruiting trail has always felt like a waste of time until the ink is dry, especially in recent years. It's like banking on a long-range weather forecast. It'll change a dozen times.

Meh, it happens. Baker Mayfield left Texas Tech because they had talent ahead of him on the depth chart.

I was not surprised to hear the decommitment. One reason I thought the coaching staff was recruiting other QB's was because they knew one of the two QB commits (at the time) would not sign.
