ESPN President Resigns
ESPN president John Skipper resigned today citing substance addiction. Former ESPN president George Bodenheimer will takeover as acting chairman until a new president is chosen. Sporting News ranked Skipper the third most influential person in sports. Interesting to see what if any effect this will have on AAC contract negotations.

So he's willing to admit to a substance problem just as all hell breaks loose on other issues?

Agreed. Weird timing. Would be interesting to see the termination clauses in his contract.

If I had to deal with all of the "drama" and egos up in Bristol I would do drugs too.

Also, he signed a contract extension through 2021 just last month.

Jemele is worse than Omarosa, as she has the 6pm Sportscenter, that I used to watch religiously. Now, I refuse to turn on ESPN, unless a game is on. I had never even heard for Omarosa, until last week.

Agreeing in overpaying the so called p5 conferences got his @55 canned... All of this on his watch... Good

I don't mind overpaying a dollar or two $$$ but if I overpay someone by a large margin... No way, not in my watch.

Me either. I hate espn. I hate them for what they did to my school and some of the other deserving CUSA schools like Houston and USM. I would think a San Diego st fan would hate them too for what they did to the MWC. Totally ignored the conference after the creation of the Mountain Network. The MWC between around 2004 and 2011 was damn strong. (Waaay better than the Big East and ACC) and espn refused to show any highlights of TCU, BYU, Utah etc. games. Those were top 10 teams they ignored.

"Substance abuse?" After reading how associates were completely surprised by this revelation and no history of seeking help. I suspect there may be some other reason ---

Sounds like Skipper was pushing too hard in his own right.

Heads have to roll for not preparing for all the cord cutting that's going... That plus the insane tv deals that were negotiated for all the so called p5 conferences.

The TV contracts definitely have baffled me over the past 7 years. It was not that long ago that the best media deals paid out schools $15-20M. I get that for Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, etc. But you trying to me there are 64+1 schools worth $35-40M a year? Nobody is watching Oregon State, Washington State, Wake Forest, Vandy, BC, Rutgers... at least not immeasurably more than what is watching schools in the AAC (only making $1.8M/year).

True story. Goes to show that ESPN was making crazy money off of college athletics prior to 2010. And the AAC is now their new b****.

I couldn't agree with you more

Forking over unbelievable equally numbers $$$ as those above is absolutely suicide 101.

Unless of course I'm grossly waisted to the teeth... Oh wait.

Aresco scared him with the baseball bat. Forced him to hide in the corner. "Say P6! Say P6!"....and a baseball bat in the head.

Well, yea, but I despise ESPN much more for their misplaced social justice politics, than about CFB in general. However, they did inspire the BCS, conference realignment, which killed the WAC/MWC and relegated many of us to second tier status.
