I'm waiting for the end of non-conference play to bump my OoC SoS Forecast topic but spoiler alert: no one's ranking has changed that much and you don't get to play the "these numbers don't make sense we haven't played the good teams yet" card anymore.

RE: Remaining Non-Conference Games
Boise State, Providence, and Georgia are the most realistic chances left at quality wins. Getting 2 of 3 would suffice.

Oh, and no losses to any 200+ crappers.

That is one brutal stretch.

To top if of you also get WSU to start conference play.

Well UC is now at 118 in the non con SoS, so while it won't end up being a really good slate, it's not the hot garbage that people were acting like it was going to be in that thread. I'm sure the next two games will weigh it down some, but it should still be Top 200 at the very least.

Not terrible considering the unique scheduling UC had to work around this year.

I didn't even think of that. That's a tough 9 days ...

I also didn't realize that the Nova game wasn't until mid January .. odd timing.

Those last 2 are going to hurt both SOS and RPI .. UC's sitting at 42 in the RPI before those 2 games.

Unique scheduling due to playing off campus?

Unless something is wonky UC is still projected to end up at 275.

Unique scheduling due to playing off campus?

Correct. NKU had first and second pick of dates for their men's and women's teams. UC was forced to wait to finalize their OOC SoS until those were completed. That plus the extra cash UC was shelling out per game to play off campus hurt the ability to get the normal ideal slate.

UC's OOC SOS was 28 last year. Not that it did us a lot of good in the seeding. The committee is wising up to the RPI system gaming. I would expect a return to normalcy next year.

275? Give me a break. Again, I question the 'forecast' its using if that's what the results are.

At the end of the day, all the committee will see and care about is what we did in the last 4 games. The rest of those mean zero unless you lose. As I just mentioned, we played the #28 OOC SoS last year, won 30 games, and got a 6 seed. Why? Because of a lack of top tier games in the conference. The committee cares about who you beat at the top, not who they beat at the bottom.

C'mon UConn, Houston, Tulsa and SMU. Put some good wins up these next OOC games. SMU, does McMurray play tonight? I hope so. We will need him, I think.

The committee picks and chooses what they want to emphasize based on whatever is going to hurt the non-P5s the most. You can have all the Q1 wins you want, an AAC school is still going to get punished for a 275 OoC SoS, that’s the nature of college basketball.

We should find out if 275 is in the ballpark of plausibility after you play Pine Bluff tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how big of a drop they cause you.

The real question: if (actually...when) they go 0-4 does the team quit on Ollie? Will that do it?
