Congrats
Congrats on beating the Jacks soundly and back into the championship. Your run has been impressive to say the least. I've been waiting for this chance to play you guys again for over a year. The better team won last year...there was no doubt about it. Hoping for a great game between two deserving programs. The tailgate and game should be epic...just too bad it has to be so early!

Hope to meet many of you guys down in Frisco/Plano prior to and during tailgate/game. My family will be sporting big fur coats...shouldn't be easy to miss.

Look forward to it, TransAm. Have to figure out some way to signal those on all the various message boards to each other.

RE: Congrats
Thanks TransAm. Did you guys enjoy beating Soft Houston as much as we did? That was one of the most enjoyable beatdowns I've ever been to last year. It's a shame you guys lost some pretty big players.
And now we meet again. Looking forward to not having to play you guys in the Fargodome. Should be a great game. While I believe we will repeat, I don't think it's going to be a beatdown by any means. I expect this one to be close all the way until the end.
The best two teams are playing for the title, no question about that.

Thanks. It was a fun game...not going to lie. I wasn't too concerned about how our offense would do...but I figured their offense would have put up more points.

As far as our game...it is tough to say. I'm basically throwing out your game against SDSU...don't think there is much to learn from it as you won't play us the same way...running will be much harder...more like Weber St. I am very concerned about how our passing attach will go. If it is like last year it could be rough. I do think we will be able to handle your offense better than last year, though...your running back last year was just too much for us. Our defense is better this year (minus the two lost corners)...so I think it will be closer...both teams waiting for the other to make a fatal error. The game could come down to field goals...

Now that is a classic college football look! Woulda come in handy for last year's game too.

Welcome to our board! This is the game we've wanted since last years game. Should be a classic.

Haha...love it. Just not sure if we will be sporting the yellow coats or the green (set of 4 of each)...

RE: Congrats
Where to begin? I didn't know where to put this, so I thought I'd go back to my original thread. Congrats on a great season...I could not imagine a more worthy opponent. If only one of a few plays went the other way the tables would be turned. Such a hard fought game between two great teams. Anyway, here are my takeaways from Frisco:

1. JMU has first class fans. Met lots of people Thursday-Saturday and they were great. Met up with a number of them after the game (we were easy to spot with the previously mentioned fur coats) and the JMU fans were just as friendly. Plenty of JMU fans went out of their way to come talk to us and offer congratulations. Many fans stayed and watched the celebration and stuck around tailgating rather than jet out...impressive.
2. Your band. I see how your fans feed off them...the band played and it looked like every single JMU fan was singing along...pretty cool. My wife did comment that your band really wasn't being a "marching band" as they didn't march...but just dance around. I thought they were good, though. I have to say Jacksonville St's band was the tops I've seen, though...they really blew our doors off a few years ago. Not a knock on your band...just giving an outsiders insight.
3. Walked through the tailgating lots and met a few posters on here...was graciously offered food and drink by them and many other JMU fans. It was a really great tailgate with how well our fans blended together.
4. Your team is truly great. Really impressed...that defense is smothering.
5. Last year you guys had an edge to you when you came into Fargo...and I feel NDSU had that edge to them this year that might have been the deciding factor. I don't know...one pass doesn't get dropped and you guys are celebrating. One missed field goal goes through and you guys can make another to win....it was that close. I feel very fortunate for us to get the victory.
6. I know when we lost last year there wasn't much that made me feel any better...but when a JMU fan acknowledged how hard a game it was it eased things a little. For what it's worth, I'm offering that now. We won...but by the slimmest of margins...and it easily could have gone the other way. Absolute respect for your team, program, coaches, and most of all fans.

Thanks for the kind words. It was a great game and could have gone either way easily. Two very evenly matched teams.

Re the Marching Royal Dukes. You and the Bison fans only saw about 60% of the band. The full band compliment of musicians, dance team and guard numbers well over 450 and we had about 250 there. Due to the winter break and the reduced size of the band I do not believe they were able to put together a show like your band did. You need to make a trip to Harrisonburg during the fall and watch the full band do its thing!!!! Then you get a more complete feel for what the MRD's can do and how and why JMU loves them.

I think I saw it was mandated to us that we could only bring as many as NDSU had wasn’t it?

Very classy post and appreciate it.
To echo what Brian said, the MRDs were not at full strength, which was very unfortunate. They were more of a pep band than anything on Saturday. They really are special when the whole group is there and actually marching and performing a show. There are plenty of performances on youtube if you're interested.

Nice post. I enjoyed meeting the Bison faithful. They were a good group to be paired with. I feel. FCS football was the big winner Saturday. Both teams showed well and one had to lose. This year it was us.

I am looking forward to next season and the next generation of great players that will be coming into our program. Go Dukes.

Thanks for the classy message TransAm. Best opposing team tailgate scene and fans that I've ever been involved with. Though I hate to lose probably more so than most people, if we had to lose, at least it was to the benchmark program. Pretty sure your fan base knew they were in a good old fashioned dogfight on Saturday (and hopefully appreciated our "drops"). Hope we play again out there and that it is us putting on the defensive stand to win.

There must and will be another chapter to this saga. This is every bit as good as what we had with App St in the mid-2000s. However, I honestly think the quality of football being played by these two teams now is considerably better. I can only hope it raises the profile of all FCS and pushes marginal teams to improve across the board for a better product.

Kudos to the Bison for being the better team on the most important of days. Enjoy the NC. We'll be back!

i agree too about the quality.

i rewatched the 2004 title game when it came on facebook a few weeks ago. the last two JMU teams were much much better than that '04 winning team IMO.

TransAm, your post made me feel better. Thanks. Wait no it didn't. We were that close to winning if it weren't for our mistakes... oh and those ****** refs. Oh well, maybe next year. NDSU was the better team last saturday in all aspects.

Well...I figured it is better to post this way than to be a troll and spout off. Really sucks when an opposing fan comes in beating their chest afterwards, rubbing salt in the wound. If anything, just trying to show respect to a good team and fanbase.
