Houston World Affairs Council event Tue 12/19 re Middle East policy
Quadsters (quadrangulists? quadrilateralists?) might be interested in this event hosted by the Houston World Affairs Council:

Elliott Abrams - Realism and Democracy: American Foreign Policy after the Arab Spring
Tuesday, December 19, 2017
6:30PM - 8:00PM
Amegy Bank Tower
1717 West Loop South
Registration & Reception: 6:30 PM
Program: 7:00 - 8:00 PM

http://www.wachouston.org/programs-a-eve.../event/293

The promo code ABRAMS5 gives you $5 off online registration.

Abrams was no stranger to controversy in his previous roles as Asst Secy of State for Inter-American Affairs under Ronald Reagan and later as senior director for Near East and North African Affairs in George W Bush's National Security Council. He is currently a fellow in Middle Eastern affairs at the Council on Foreign Relations.

HWAC seems like a good group, but I've never been to one of their events. I think I will go to this one.

I enjoyed it. The moderator asked a lot of detailed questions, and Abrams answered them in detail.

And it was refreshing to hear a confident articulation of the post-war foreign policy consensus again -- it's been a long time since we've heard that from anyone.
