Attended a Sunday night prayer service - Gaudete Sunday
On Gaudete Sunday, it's tradition for a number of the churches to have a worship service to reflect on the OT bible passages that predict the coming of Jesus as the savior. My youngest daughter is a part of the bell choir at the church. They had 2 choirs, the bell choir, a cellist and of course the pipe organ. Beautiful program. They followed the "9 Lessons" arrangement with readings from Genesis up to the first 2 chapters of the gospels.
One of the arrangements in particular was especially moving (IMHO). It was the "Creatures of Light" movement from Sarah Quartel's "Snow Angel". I listened to the whole "Snow Angel" work tonight on Youtube. It's an amazing piece.
Please share any interesting Christmas shows/concerts/plays stories your kids participated in this year. So far the middle daughter played in the high school orchestra (along with the middle school grades) for a winter concert and my youngest daughter played in a Christmas show with the catholic high school orchestra (she's only in 6th grade) as a first trumpet.
Makes for a time to feel pride for your kids - and to feel like you have zero time to yourself!
If interested, here is the "Snow Angel" piece I referenced above. Note, this is not what I watched tonight - they only took one part of the Snow Angel work and performed it.
