A very interesting hypothetical is how would this years team look, feel, and be perceived if our SOS was bottom of the barrel during the transition

I always complain when I feel the SOS is too easy but during a transition it may have been a good idea

Let's see.
1. Keatts leaves for bigger things.
2. We lose all our recruits
3. One of our two best players transfers.
4. Richmond is dismissed for not meeting program
standards.
Yep, looks like a trainwreck to me.
But why is this all McGrath's fault? Who had such high expectations for this season? Who is delusional? All this and nine games into the season with all the losses, plus so many new faces from a very short time to recruit. So the new coach is a complete failure. Really???

Yep, looks like a trainwreck to me. - Sorry IMO getting throttled every night, not making any adjustments, kids getting booted from the team, kids getting suspended for half's is definitely a train wreck. I hope it changes, but i am not confident.

I didn't expect to win every game but also didn't expect to be playing like sisters of the poor and have a bottom 5 D in the country. Who is delusional? Never said that, but it certainty is NOT looking good.

2-7 is our worst start in 17 years. That's why it seems so bad...and we've been bad. Whatever the reasons, that record is a fact. Records older than that aren't available to breakdown.

2. Saying we got "decent" recruits to replace what we had coming is laughable. Look. I like the new guys. In time, we'll be alright with them. However, pretending we evened out in that category is ridiculous and an absolute reach to try and prove your point.

3. You, myself, or probably anyone else on here have NO IDEA why Richmond was dismissed from the team. To use a statement alluding to the fact he wasn't "buying in" to McGrath's coaching is more than a reach. It's literally BS. Richmond was starting to receive significant minutes and had a career game against LSU just days before being dismissed. His dismissal is far more likely to be the result of grades vs not "buying in".

Lastly, I agree with others here who have pointed out to you now on multiple occasions that you didn't give McGrath a chance from the start. The moment he was signed as the next coach all we heard was negativity. The moment we took our first loss you compared him to everything you hate about UNC. We get it. You and a couple of the newbies around here don't like him. Okay. We hear you loud and clear. Did I miss anything?

Complaining incessantly about it here isn't going to solve anything and just further demoralizes fans, players, players families, and the administration.

Let me put it this way. Just like McGrath can't go out on the floor and shoot free throws for the players, he can't study and take tests for them either. This was not a coach's decision.

I would be happy if I saw some adjustments to a game plan that isn't working. Every problem noted is true. SOS, thin bench, starters leaving, recruiting class gone...all true and huge factors. So, as I asked before, should we just write this year off? If so, there is nothing to discuss is there? I'm willing to accept that if we are basically going to stay the course win or lose.

After the Campbell game I stated it was a nice win, just wished he had called a timeout before their 17-2 run ended. And for the record that’s one thing coach seems to have improved with he’s been using them wisely since the Loyola game 17-0 run.
You can attempt to go back and dig up all the posts your want bottom line if we were not getting trashed every game and we improving the Ls wouldn’t matter as much. I wanted a guy with HC experience we didn’t get it, I was willing to give him a chance. Still am, doesn’t mean I’m going to like what’s happening nor am I going to blindly throw up the Pom poms when the results simply do not warrant it. And for the record there are plenty of long time posters here that don’t like what’s happening either. It’s a shame that our fan base seems to be one extreme or the other right now

I agree with you, but whether or not the season is a write off we still need to see growth. A little, anything at all?

I saw improvement in this last game. What cast a shadow over it was one whistle happy referee. With 10:26 to go in the game, three of our starters were sitting with four fouls. That one ref called the vast majority of those twelve fouls. And we were down eleven. What was impressive was our comback started without those players, and was made without them. That come back included three freshmen.
Any reason why this has not been talked about?

That could also be a result of McGrath giving the freshmen big minutes early. If they didn’t have that experience to play the game calmly and in control that comeback wouldn’t have happened. Another good reason to trust the plan. I don’t have to know the plan or like the initial results of it to trust it and give it time to develop.

The comeback was good. Was nice to see them show a little fight. Offense looked pretty good, defense still gave up 90+

I actually did mention the comeback with starters on the bench and the crowd getting into it. But, I thought it came about because we have become to reliant on going into the post instead of guards making plays. Cacok and Bryan on the bench forced the guards to play, and they responded.

I do know that Taylor started off slow, but became a man possessed midway thru the second half. He suddenly became fearless and they couldn't stop him. And Gary looked very sure of himself.
Something that hurt was Cacok letting his anger get in the way. Cost him two quick fouls.
