RE: Easy OOC
To put "bad" into perspective, NIU since 2000 has a record of

146 W 84 L WP 635

In the last 10 years

91 W 44 L WP 674

and in the past 5 years with the coaching changes and injuries to key players NIU has had to deal with

44 W 23 L WP 638

Those are higher WP's than the Bears experienced during the 11 year Coaching Reign of Mike Ditka 106-62 regular season 6-6 post season Regular Season WP 631 Total WP 622. Ditka is still revered by some to this day for what he achieved from 1982-92.

146 total wins (in 230 games) vs 136 total Bear wins from the start of Dick Jauron's coaching Tenure (1999-2003) through Lovie Smith (2004-2012) Marc Trestman (2013-14) and John Fox (2015-17) Bears played 311 or 81 more games than NIU.

Last 2 years just one win over .500. You want mediocrity then dig up more pro-carey stats because he inherited a strong program so you can find them, but if you want those nice fat winning percentages back, then he has to go asap, AND schedule easier OOC.

RE: Easy OOC
Should Carey be let go, yes but before you cut ties what better candidates are out there who will accept the $ that NIU will pay.

Also, this team returns a MAC Freshman of the Year QB, the best left OT in the conference (Sharping) and a Defense led by the National Sack & TFL leader (Smith) plus a 3rd Team All MAC Selection (Corcoran) who would have been ranked higher if he had not missed half the season to injury. He comes back healthy and the D will make opponents offenses lives very challenging and take pressure off the offense. I am not saying to have false hope but NIU starts 2018 with considerable assets and if the best talent stays healthy NIU has a shot at a double digit win season

No double digit win season in 18 and Carey should not be extended

RE: Easy OOC
Unless we get a grad transfer QB we will do well to win 7 or 8 games in '18 with such a hard schedule. The season to be excited about is '19 when we have the vast majority of our key players back and a more manageable schedule. While we lose good players to graduation every year, the only really exceptional players we're losing after '18 are Scharping, Corcoran and Jawuan Johnson. I would say it's double digit wins in '19 or bust.

More manageable? Not sure about that. Yes we have Ill St here but we are at Utah, at Nebraska, and at Vandy. Plus at Toledo and CMU. Double digits will be an amazing season with that schedule.

I agree. But, if it changes, I see it happening on the Nebraska side, not ours. STF seems too enamored with the big purse to give one up.

It’s a great off season to need a grad transfer QB too, lots are available.

We've had three straight seasons with eight or fewer wins and yet he got extended without any announcement or explanation. How about we get to the end of whatever the current deal is and only then make a decision since we all know there is no money for a buyout.

Toledo? I thought they may fall off with candle, but he seems to be taking them to another level. Hopefully this is his last year.
