Got to believe that this will help us leap frog to the top of the MAC HC salary, given all things (facilities, recruiting base, community size, academic programs, etc). Have a feeling that Jason has a little more commitment to UT. I know it doesn't preclude a real big fish from taking him but at least maybe not a middle of the road P5. Be interesting to see where the $ came from. Sure it came with the help of U Hall leadership. Good for Coach Candle and the Rockets.

I like the schools who have it in the contract that 9 wins (or 10 wins or whatever) automatically kicks in a raise and extra year in the contract.

note that $650,000 comes from outside UT budget, in terms of sponsorship, coaches show, appearances etc.... so actually amount of increase and base salary from UT budget is smaller portion and smaller increase

Are you guys still an UnderArmour school? I'm guessing the money is coming from that deal (Pitino received like 95% of the adidas money Louisville was receiving).

That would put an interesting spin on things. How open are they, with how that money is used? Coach changing supplier to get some pocket change? Is that what happened with the Adidas thing?

My guess is that the fball, MBB and WBB coaches do receive funds from the Nike contract that is part of their coaches contract under that source of sponsorships, same for game advertising, coach shows, appearances etc...
