100% shotgun/pistol
I really don't like running out of the shotgun 100% of the time. The 4th down and a few inches we didn't convert in the first quarter was a great reason why. Those are easy to get a sneak with, but if you're only under center for sneaks, then they'll just line up like they're blocking a FG. I wish we had a package that was basically a wishbone where we had a few run plays and a couple play-actions where getting 4 feet was a more reliable outcome.

I hear you on short yardage.

but I don't mind it in the playbook to run off of. As long as we mix in some other type runs as well.

For too long, the read option has been our running play 95% of the time. Schor gets some good yards by keeping it, so we don't want to completely forget about that play.

I'd like to see us run the play Weber did on the first TD. Everyone go right but the RB. The QB fakes and turns right, but then pitches back left.

if you remember, we used that play back in 2008 with Landers and Holloman to seal the App St game

the jet sweeps were a great, and long needed wrinkle, and i'm sure that had an effect on opening up the run game with Marshall.

Basically, just don't be so predictable in the run game. Use some other ways to move the ball on the ground.

Right. I like that almost all of our plays have the capability for a big gain, but I wish we had a few plays in the book that had a very high likelihood of getting 2 yards but a tiny likelihood of getting 20.

Suppose you ran a wishbone with 1 TE and 1 wideout. From there you could sneak, triple-option (dive, off-tackle, pitch) left or right, sweep left or right, or fake a run and throw to the RB in the flat, WR slant, or TE fade, or bootleg.

Yeah, that was a great play-call vs. Appy.

Totally agree. Trai was damn lucky (good, actually) to get into the end zone on the two point conversion. I hate starting 7 yards in the backfield on short yardage. All it takes is for one DL to win his matchup, shoot a gap, and the play is blown up.

I would also enjoy not seeing a 15-20 yard throw on 3&3. Regardless go Dukes

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who knew what was coming when Schor meandered up under center at the goal line. 03-thumbsup

Yeah, mostly since they never do it - it's the only thing that made sense If we had 3 or 4 plays we could run out of it, I think it'd work even better.
