They are, but it's not prominent like it was. They used the same logos that go on the white helmets. I like the white helmets, but I still love this look. If we're going to simplify things, I say mix up the white and gold helmets and let that be it. Throw away the black and gray. I hate to give up the purple ones because I like those also but if you have to scale it back, white and gold. Just go back to the purple "JMU" on the gold.

I agree that the purple lettering stood out better on the gold helmet. Unfortunately, that design went away when the peg leg M was retired. As far as my recollection, they have not used purple lettering on the helmet since then. It's just been the gold with the purple outline as that is the new design.

The first time the purple lettering went away was Withers' debut against Maryland.

This combination screamed, "WE ARE THE DUKES FROM JMU." Waited a long time for it.

According to the postgame Cigs wanted to warm up with white and then come out for the game in what they did wear but the hassles of players spatted-up and wearing knee braces would’ve been too much of a distraction to hurry.

Yeah, he also said he'd been thinking about it all week and said "I thought we seemed kind of tired." So, maybe uniforms actually can make a difference in the energy of the team as per the head coach. He also said he really liked the uniforms today so hopefully it's not the last time we see them.

The uniforms today sucked. Everyone had white T Shirts sticking out from under their jerseys. Ragged looking. The matte finished gold helmets need to be retired. Go back to the glossy gold helmet and you have something that will pop. We looked like a rag tag outfit out there.

I agree with 84, the untucked shirts sticking out of the jerseys looked sloppy. They need to wear a tight under armor type shirt underneath their should pads.

The weird yellow/green helmets mixed in with the rest was pretty bad. I loved the purple on purple with gold helmets, but that color difference was very noticeable. And again we gotta get the gold logo off the gold helmets. A solid purple "DUKES" would look good on the gold helmet. But on TV it just looks like a plain, logo-less gold helmet.

I thought they looked good, especially as it got darker. For some reason, Mike Greene and Dinucci had different helmets than everyone else. I noticed that the back of their helmets at the bottom was different so I'm not sure if they were from a different manufacturer or what that was about.

I do agree the guys should tuck their shirts in. That looks like slop. Tuck the shirts in and get back to the purple JMU logo and we have one of the best uniforms in all of college football.

Last minute changes require extra crisp execution....not today - have we ever seen a glossy gold?

That's what I was thinking. Loved the matte gold helmet and purple jerseys. Would still like to see gold britches a couple games a year. The nicest uni we have ever had, IMO.

Pretty sure the NCAA outlawed the 80s/90s Miam cutoff shirts years ago.

I agree - overall, I liked the uni combo a lot and glad CC switched it up last minute - no complaints.

I also agree that they sloppy rags and t-shirt pieces hanging are not a good look. I recall a couple of years ago - I believe it was W&M fans - commenting on how much more polished and uniform we look due to not having tees/rags hanging out - seems we've gotten away from that.

Look - winning is all that matters, but with a whole thread about unis and unis being our biggest branding opportunity, I would like to see this cleaned up. I had control of the remote in a living room of 15+ family members switching btwn the JMU game + LSU + Virginia + Indiana... I would have liked to see us look a bit cleaner.

Honestly, I thought we missed the mark, too. The matte gold helmets were cool but we all noticed the handful of oddball gold helmets that didn’t match- starting with Dinucci’s. The helmets also almost clashed with the gold in our uniform numbers- making them look pale. And the third thing my wife pointed out is that the socks/tights were yest another color of gold. So, I have to concur, we didn’t look as sharp as we normally do. But, of course, I’d rather our uniforms look a little loose rather than the team. Go Dukes!

I think I care less than anyone about about what uniform we wear.

I'm more curious who made the change. In Monday's press conference Cig said something like, "I think I'm the one that makes that decision....guys were more worried on Friday night about their jersey, than.....I'm creating the JMU brand like Alabama........"

Was he bluffing, or did someone come to him? Did not seem like he was bluffing to me....

I would not doubt the Dukes Domain was the reason for this particular smilie
