Thought for sure there would be a discussion on this today. The Tribune published a list today of the 30 greatest college coaches who have coached any men’s or women’s program in Illinois. A stunning omission to this list was Joe Novak. Thoughts?

Here's my thought.. what a true POS the Tribune is. We're taking about a man that has BRANDED our institution NATION WIDE. I work with elite school snobs and everyone knows about NIU. I go #TheHardWay at my job and garner the same respect, professionally, as our student athletes.

I don't think omitting any NIU coach is a big deal. That is until you see some of the other names on it, a list of 30.

Ridiculous list, especially when you combine all sports, DI schools.

How do you omit UI volleyball coach Mike Hebert. 4 conf titles, 11 NCAA tourneys (5 elite 8's, 2 FF.) in 12 yrs.

Jerry Kill is #21. He always seemed to get way too much credit for turning around a 2-10 2007 Huskie team.

My reaction was exactly like yours....Without the turnaround completed by Joe Kill would have never come to NIU from SIU....

Clearly the writer failed to research the selection

bull****. We owe so much to Novak. He made us relevant and it's sad we can't support this program in bigger numbers. Let's build a dome!

It's the Tribune. They're not going to spend any actual time knowing anything about NIU. They're not quite as bad as the Slum-Times, but that's an extremely low bar.
