Sam Houston State preview
I am just forging along like nothing has happened and I have good sense.

The Bearkats are 5-5, but three of their wins were non-D1. Last time out they lost to Ole Miss by 13. They should start 6-11, 6-7, 6-5 across the front line.

6-7 power forward Chris Galbreath is their leading scorer at 15.5 ppg, and he is the only one averaging double figures. He also leads the team in rebounding at 8.1. He evidently does most of his work inside, as he has attempted only 16 threes. They do not shoot the 3 particularly well (although considerably better than we do). Albert Almanza off the bench is their main gunner at 36.7% from the arc. They are plus-5 on the boards. They are solidly plus on team A/TO ratio. Looks like their rotation is nine deep.

The bad news? Their defense is formidable. They hold opponents to 39% overall and 31% from the arc. (Against an offensively-challenged bunch like the Trojans, we may shut us down entirely.)

Sagarin picks them by 8.
RealtimeRPI picks them by 17.

Losing by 2 on the road wouldn't be a big deal if it hadn't been stuck in the middle of all the other lousy play.

Andre Jones is still shooting 3s, and still missing 3s. 0 of 4 tonight. 5 out of 36 on the season. At what point does the coach say, "Stop!!"

The good news is we may have found at least one 3PT shooter. Corcoran is at 36.7%.

WHY, WHY, WHY? Over half our shots (28 of 53) were from the arc - and we only made 29% of them. Why not just plan to lose?!

17 turnovers is way too many for a team that shoots as poorly as we do.

We did get back on track on our perimeter defense. SHS only shot 25%.

UNC Charlotte fires their coach into his 3rd season for "lack of effort".......just saying.......
