Well deserved. Bringing back UAB from the dead and to a bowl in its first year he deserves it.

Nice to see Bill Clark get this recognition. Definitely respect the job he did this year.

Bill Clark deserves all the accolades for his work with the Blazers this season. Congrats!

Very well deserved. Forget the won loss record this year. Take it out of the conversation.

As head coach he had to be hearing the rumbling coming out of Turdscaloosa about shutting the program down. That’s not done in absolute silence. Had to hear it. Had to know the players were hearing it. Had to talk to those guys and tell them it wasn’t going to happen and keep on playing.

Then had to witness it happen. Being called in and told your program is gone. Had to watch as guys he’d coached started looking for places to go. We got 2 of em. Indiana got one. South Al got a damn team from them.

Then watched as Turdscaloosa’s master plan fell apart. He could have gone somewhere. He was probably as hot as he had ever been other than right now.

He then had to recruit a new team. Not a 23 or 25 or 19 man recruiting class. A new team. Had to do the math to see where he needed to fill in on top of the kids that actually stayed.

Had to mold all these new guys into a team. Install an offense and defense with mostly new players. There’s no telling how much time he spent on UAB football, especially in the last year as he was preparing to play games again.

He wasn’t doing it for free. He was getting paid this whole time. But it takes a special person to pull this off.

Jack Harbaugh did similar for us. They were going to kill football at Western. Jack took lesser money if i recall correctly. His son Jim came on as basically an unpaid assitant coach and recruited Florida like hell for us. His brother who I believe was at Cincinnati at the time helped sending recruits Western’s way as well. Jim made Fila give us uniforms as part of his sneaker deal. The program didn’t die like UAB’s did but it was on life support when Jack started back up.

So I have a special place in my football heart for guys like Bill Clark and Jack Harbaugh. Any accolades heaped upon Clark is well deserved. Good for him and good for UAB.

I could not be happier for him and the entire UAB football community. Way to go!
