List a "winter" memory you have while you were at NIU
Since this is the winter season, list a memory or two of your winter days while at NIU.

1. Playing hocky on East Lagoon.

2. The year in the 80s or early 90s where winter finals week was hit with a blizzard.....1990???

I really enjoyed watching Alan Rayhorn play. He and the Huskies helped me get through those long cold winters.

Snowball fight by the dorms with like 1000 people, got a little out of hand, but awesome.

Walking to parties on Johns street in the snow.

Getting kicked out of the Jungle, into the snow...

The Blizzard of January '79. Entire first week of class called off on Saturday before classes started. Nothing but snow football and parties.

I think the storm of 86 was a Thanksgiving blizzard...not in December.

Cutting across the frozen Kishwaukee, then falling through the ice not realizing the water still flows below it as it hollows out. 03-drunk

Playing football outside the grey townhomes on Edgebrook in 6 inches of snow vs. guys from other unit. Told roommate to go to stop sign and I'll throw it to you on other side. Guy covering him ran into the 4x4 holding up sign, basically knocking him out. Pass was caught, TD! 02-13-banana

Also skeeching down Russell Road.

Remember that well. Coming back from break, we followed a semi on interstate 5 all the way to Dekalb as visibility was zero. If he had ended up in a ditch, we would have followed him in.

Chick Evans was a great place to watch a basketball game. Really was a home court advantage.

I used to live in that blue house right across Lucinda from the Student Center and I had to be in DeKalb over Christmas break.

I went out, bough some firewood at Jewel, and probably made the first fire in that fireplace in a 1000 years. Well worth it.

RE: List a "winter" memory you have while you were at NIU
Winter of 00, finals week, Grant North 3rd floor.

Day before a final that I was not looking forward to and rather than studying or getting a good nights sleep I was up all night downloading songs off of Napster and DBZ music videos off of Scour.

I was chatting online with random people and managed to come across someone who said they were a chick from Austria. Conversation was rather superficial so the weather came up. At that time DeKalb was having one of those -60deg wind chill with 60mph wind/blizzard storms. I told this person how cold it was and they flat out didn't believe me. They told me it rarely even gets that cold in Siberia and no way was it that cold where I was. I sent the link to the weather bug local live readings. After a min of sending the link the person just ended the conversation and logged off.

The sun was coming up so I decided that I should go to bed. As I lay down over the dorm PA system the announcement was made that all classes (aka finals) were canceled that day. And I went to bed with a big smile.

Kind of random but one of my most memorable PG rated winter night at NIU.
