RE: SMU players attempting public mutiny on new coach
Today at the press conference, someone asked why he was coaching the bowl game, and he said it was basically "it was out of necessity." Meaning, Traylor "stayed on through the bowl" as interim coach, only hoping he would get the head coach job. When that didn't pan out, he just went ahead and left to join Morris at Arkansas. Hardly any of the coaching staff is left at SMU, so I guess asking Dykes to do it was about the only option.
And hopefully, the players that were saying they trusted Traylor will realize that he left town as soon as he didn't get what he wanted out of the "I'll stay on as interim coach" gesture. It should be an interesting bowl either way.

RE: SMU players attempting public mutiny on new coach
He will run Morris' playbook, sitting down with QB Hicks for a fast track learning curve on the system. Can't imagine SMU players going into this game lethargic since we haven't been to a bowl in a few years. Dykes says, Seniors deserve to have fun at the bowl game, and having fun no matter which bowl means winning.

Yup, I hope players actually realize the implications of Traylor bailing.
