RE: CBS Picks CUSA Over MAC in Football
MAC has the top 1
MAC has the top 1 of 2.
MAC has the top 2 of 3.
MAC has the top 3 of 4.
MAC has the top 3 of 5.
MAC has the top 4 of 6.
MAC has the top 4 of 7.
MAC has the top 4 of 8.
MAC has the top 5 of 9.
MAC has the top 5 of 10.
MAC has the top 6 of 11.
MAC has the top 7 of 12.
Then its a jumbled mess of non bowl eligible teams and CUSA has a lot of middlers/ 2 extra teams. If you go to WKU, CUSA gets best 10 of 19.

From the other way.
CUSA has the bottom 1.
CUSA has the bottom 2.
CUSA has the bottom 2 of 3.
CUSA has the bottom 3 of 4.
CUSA has the bottom 3 of 5.
CUSA has the bottom 3 of 6.
CUSA has the bottom 4 of 7.
CUSA has the bottom 5 of 8.
CUSA has the bottom 5 of 9.
CUSA has the bottom 6 of 10.
CUSA has the bottom 7 of 11.
CUSA has the bottom 8 of 12.

and its pointless whenever you feel its pointless to stop...

Mean and median being point 1.
UB beating ur league champ? Point 2.
Idc If FAU is better now. It happened...

We lost to an 8 win conf member on the road without our all league RB, and a 10 win ACC team. Facts.

No other midmajor losses and not a scrub conference schedule. We played the best in our conference. 8 win NIU? Check. 8 win CMU? Check. 6 win WMU check. 7 win Akron? X2 check.

Sorry we scheduled 10 win Tulsa from 2016 and they ended up playing like poop in 2017.

10 out of 14 CUSA teams have 6 or more wins
^ This is well over half. 71.4% to be precise.

First, how is it that MAC ends up playing more FCS programs than CUSA when we have two more conference members than y'all? That's literally insane.

Second, all I've provided is proof. You've provided me with none. I've shown CUSA to beat better opponents than MAC. Remember, we're comparing the two.

Third, do you honestly think Florida Atlantic wants to play MAC's #5 team? Wait. That's not how they market it... they say it's vs. the MAC runner-up. Anyways, no. Who wants to watch a bowl game where their team is the (-22.5) favorite? We would much rather have played Toledo. Obviously.

Fourth, you've got your facts wrong yet again. Ohio is your #3, UAB is our #7. Didn't we just go over this? So if we DO win this game, yes it DOES say something.

Fifth, the only way MAC correlates more with the MWC than CUSA does is that the conference is more regional. That's it. Period.

Sixth, how about Colley's rankings? CUSA outranks MAC there. Another point for CUSA, I suppose. We've still got more points, if you're counting.

Seventh, I find it funny that you keep harping on the Buffalo win. Is that the only ammunition you've got?

Eighth, Florida Atlantic played the best in CUSA: 9-win North Texas (x2), 8-win Florida International, 7-win Marshall, etc. Also, Florida Atlantic only played one of our bottom trio (Charlotte) while Toledo played two of yours (Ball State & Bowling Green). I don't know why you keep bringing this back to a Toledo vs. Florida Atlantic thing. Or is that all MAC has to offer?

Ninth, I bet Florida Atlantic will beat Akron by a wider margin than Toledo did. You in?

Lastly, good luck in your bowl game against Appalachian State. God forbid you lose...

x

1. We play FCS because the only P5 geological conference we have is the BIG10.
2. None? Massey mean. Higher conference average by quite a bit. And 2 conference teams with 5 wins in the group where you have FOUR WEAK bowl eligibles between 93 and 99!!!!
3. Heck no. Who would want to play Akron? To be fair all of their losses are to solid teams?? (Statement for Akron fans looking for a silver lining)
4. Ohio lost the last 2 games after wacking us. They finished 8-4. 2nd in the weak division. They arent playing like the 3. Most agree that CMU is the 2 in the conference right now, followed by NIU then Ohio/Akron. UB ended on a high note to maybe be in that consideration? Im not sure.
5. Massey means have us neck and neck with MWC. I dont use another ranking system because that is the end all average between them all.
6. Colleys? Thats 1 system? Might as well use the sagarins, S&p+, Fpi. All are equally as useless with their own advantages.
7. When you are directly comparing conferences, dont lose to a 6 and 6er from the one you are comparing to.
8. Your teams win totals are inflated. Idc what the win totals are of teams finishing below 70th in the composite rankings. 7 or 8 wins means 93rd for UAB. Thats 5 wins for EMU.
9. We were up 38 to zilch on akron and pulled off the dogs in our title game. We dont have a kiffin complex. We let our younger guys get experience and hes just there to put you on the map for 2 years so he can bounce.

Yep, Toledo won by 17 even with 5 turnovers... A Swanson fumble at the goal line: Seymour fumble when we were driving/2 very ugly interceptions by Woodside/ and a chipped shot miss on a field goal and the score would have been in the 60’s..
Akron got their token scores with our top defensive player getting tossed and the second unit in...
FA will beat Akron more than likely, but not more than what the Rockets did...
UT vs. FA would have been a real good matchup...

Their goal is to score every drive, go for it on all 4th downs, and run every trick play they have to make SC top 10. Theyll probably score 60. But thats the way we play with our program vs. theirs. There is little to take away from their bowl game unless its legit close. Anyways... Them winning by more than us will likely mean they get in the top25. Kiffin is a name. We are just another Toledo team that no one knows of... No respect.

That just means we need to blow the doors off Appy to make em learn! 12-2 HERE WE COME.

The MAC is far ahead of CUSA in terms of tradition, prestige and marketability. As a Memphis fan I regularly watch and enjoy MAC football. CUSA not so much.

I agree with this. MAC has pulled even with the Mountain West in football and basketball RPI. MAC way ahead of CUSA in basketball and ahead in football. Sun Belt hasn't budged.

RE: CBS Picks CUSA Over MAC in Football
You could draw a diamond from Buffalo to Ohio, Ohio to NIU, NIU to CMU, CMU to Buffalo and there is only 1 G5 conference represented in the entire region.

This is a huge advantage over CUSA, SBC and some extent AAC which are overlapping conferences. AAC has an edge in the tradition department so the overlap doesn't weigh them down so much.

The MAC has some work to do with bowl games though. I'd like to see the MAC go champ vs. champ with the MWC in 2020 when the next non-CFP bowl games are agreed upon. Las Vegas Bowl may becoming a P5 property with the new NFL stadium and Holiday Bowl dropping to a G5 property.

The MAC needs to also get out of playing the SBC 2-3 times in bowl games. I know both conferences needed each other for bowls 5 years ago. MAC would be better playing CUSA which is an easier conference and bigger D1 names.

The MAC has been relatively stable for decades. C-USA has had so much turnover that it's been impossible to develop an identity as a conference. Add on top of that that the MAC is the only G5 conference in their region while C-USA is in direct geographic competition with the Sun Belt and some of the AAC and it's no surprise that C-USA has struggled in that regard.

The best thing for both the Sun Belt and C-USA would be for both sides to drop their egos and re-organize into an eastern and western conference.

No kidding that James Madison ND ST FCS title game should be a great one, better than most of the FBS bowl games. MAC East with James Madison and Marshall would be a significantly stronger division

Pretty much spot on. There are a few programs with prestige still left in CUSA, just not enough to carry the entire conference. USM, Marshall are good examples, but then you have charlotte..........nuf said and before this year you could lump the F_U's in there as well, winning for extended periods produces prestige, so one season or two or three doesn't make a program, ask WKU. Only 2, arguably 3 programs have football tradition, USM, Marshall and maybe LT. There is more with basketball tradition, even if they have not lived up to it recently, ODU, WKU, UAB, UTEP, Charlotte. I personally would advocate making a pitch to go back to the MAC if there ever was any talk of sunbelt merger. I want no part of that, and I am sure USM doesn't either.

I agree that the Belt and CUSA need to do a member swap to form an east and west conference. the dumbest thing, out of many, that CUSA did was think "markets" mattered when doing the last realignment. Should have just picked the best football programs.

Oh, and for the Toledo fan that said FAU wouldn't beat Akron as bad as Toledo did...

They went for it on 4th and 14 with 2 mins left up by 47...lol. Kiffin doesnt have the agenda Candle and Toledo did. We let up 38-0. Its not how we play. Both games were blowouts with a quarter left.

Btw the non targeting in that game was the worst call ive ever seen. Head hunted late and didnt get called. Unbelievable.

Yeah, and Toledo has a coach that took his foot off the gas when we were up 38-0 in the third quarter. Kiffin has his starting QB throwing in the last minute of the game. Not much class exhibited there. I was surprised that Akron pretty much gave up.
As for the score differential, in the MCC we shot ourselves in the foot with 5 turnovers, that score for all intense purposes was heading for the 60’s. Akron did scrap more in Detroit than what I saw tonight...

Yeah, I couldn't believe they waived that off. It was a helmet directly to the chin three steps AFTER the ball went sailing by. 01-wingedeagle

RE: CBS Picks CUSA Over MAC in Football
FAU scored their first TD with 1:08 left in the first quarter. From that point on they averaged a TD every 5 minutes throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarter and into the first 4 minutes of the 4th. They scored no points in the final 11 minutes and that wasn't because Akron's defense all of a sudden figured out their offense.

They only threw the ball 25 times and ran it 60 times. If Kiffen wanted it could have been at least 64-3.

Oh, and I agree on the targeting. Horrible non-call.
