Delaware picked up a 6-9 transfer from Villanova, Dylan Painter. One service had him rated as 4 stars. NE, at one point, had a 4 star player and he has not panned out so far (thought I saw him late in game versus Dukes).

Michael Tate (Venson) played in the 1989 McDonald All-America game before heading off to Georgetown. He transferred to JMU after his freshman year.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
I hope Rowe and staff are giving Atlanta-area PG, Jalen Harper, a lot of love. We really need a point guard to round out this 2019 class. Harper, the younger brother of Auburn star Jared Harper, is raising his game of late.

He was named 1st team in a very competitive 7A level region this past week and also has now secured an offer from in-state Mercer Univ. earlier this week. 7A is the largest classification in Georgia and just inside their region (equivalent of a 'district' in VHSL) there is the big bad Wheeler HS program that has cranked out many big timers over the years and won many state championships. i.e., it is loaded with D1 talent.

I guess power programs are shying away from Jalen because of his listed 5'10" ~150# size. I am glad this didn't keep Rowe from offering and hope Jalen becomes a Duke. When I look at the roster, we need a backup PG next year and just hope one of the bigs coming in will develop into a Cacok (CoC) or Knight (W&M). Wilson is on track to be a force for the next 2 years in the post, but we lack depth behind him.

Per the DNRbeat writer Jayvis Harvey a 6’ 4” SG from NC was on an official visit to JMu this weekend. He originally committed to Radford and has offers/interest from several mid majors , including Hofstra.

Looks like he has some range, and some decent one on one moves. I like that he looks like he can finish against contact, but don't know how exaggerated that is given that this is a highlight reel.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
That article 97 is referencing also pointed out that the one JUCO shooting guard JMU offered (Sean McNeil) is blowing up with high level interest now from the likes of Texas Tech, West VA and VA.

Harvey, by the way, backed out of a commitment from Radford and is now being pursued by the likes of JMU, Hofstra, NE, W&M and others. It just goes to show that any good looking prospect, especially at this point in the recruiting cycle, is going to generate a lot of interest. Teams keep open scholarships for exactly that purpose. Take heed JMU administration.

'84 are you thinking Harvey might have character concerns since he backed out of Radford?

Dukester, I let my thoughts be known on Knox Kadum. You've got let that go. I can't speak to the character of this kid. Kadum, after a long recruiting period and association with JMU's new OC, makes a commitment about a week before the signing period on his official visit and backs out two days later. He was a QB, the future face of the program. I understand people have the right to change their minds, but there's a right way to do things and I thought Kadum fell short.

I saw where The small pG Harper who’s brother plays for Auburn verbally committed to Florida gulf Coast so he is likely off the board. I think with Parker’s play another PG likely isn’t needed this recruiting cycle. Imo it’s abouy guards who can score and shoot to help replace Mosely.

He would have been an intriguing prospect. Bet he does well after he puts on some weight. Oh well

You took my question wrong. I was asking due to your thoughts on Kadum, but was curious if you felt this was a similar situation. You answered my question that it was more than just pulling back an offer in this case. Thanks.

I still don't have an issue with a player pulling back a verbal offer, and even more so in this case if the dream offer you've always wanted unexpectedly came available.

As far as I know right or wrong on this cannot be looked up in a book, but we all have our own opinions with reasons.

If you're not sure or are waiting on something else, don't make a verbal commitment. Otherwise, you're trying to have it both ways. Those are my thoughts on it.

Rowe will find a way to bring Cam Smith back for some much needed depth.

Will Cam Smith break the school record for most consecutive games not played while on scholarship?

Yep I get that kids can change their minds but so soon- it was a move to lock in Jmu as his floor scholarship /insurance policy if no big 5 offers came. He tried to play the Dukes and ended up getting played by VaTech- lesson for Knox and his handlers.

Break out smith on senior day- if his knee responds well use him as a secret weapon in the Caa Tourney.

Saw on the ESPN banner tdoay that an Oregon QB, I believe it is, is transferring in to VA Tech.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
A few notes regarding our 4 signees from back in November...

*Michael Christmas, 6'6" Fwd, Landstown HS, Virginia Beach -- Christmas' team finished the regular season with the 3rd seed in Class 6 Region A. They have made it to the region finals, which will be played tonight against top-seed Oscar Smith HS at the Scope in Norfolk (8pm). They have of course qualified for the state tournament (quarterfinals) and will play again Friday night with opponent and location dependent not only on their outcome tonight, but also what happens in the Class 6 Region B final between Colonial Forge & James River.

VHSL Class 6 state tournament bracket: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TB2JlJN...ZpSmM/view

*Mike Fowler, 6'9" Fwd, Greensboro Day School, Raleigh -- his team finished 30-5 and this past Saturday won the state 4A North Carolina Independent Schools championship over Christ School, who upset the #1 seed (Charlotte Christian, 27-1) in the quarterfinals. Congrats to Mike and his team for winning the state championship.

*Quinn Richey, 6'5" Guard, Mt. Pisgah Christian School, Johns Creek, Georgia -- Quinny's team bowed out of the Georgia High School Association's Class A Private School state tournament last week in the 2nd round with a 10 pt loss to Eagles Landing Christian Academy, also in the Atlanta area. Richey's team finished 17-13 on the season.

*Julien Wooden, 6'8" Fwd, Northside HS, Roanoke -- Julien and his Northside team plays in the Class 3 Region D championship tonight against Cave Spring HS. Northside is the #1 seed. Interesting side note, if by chance Northside loses, they will face Spotswood HS (the Region C champs) in the state quarterfinals at a location TBA...will be in the Valley area (note, Spotswood's girls are opening their state quarterfinal at nearby East Rockingham HS). If Northside wins tonight, there is a chance they'll face Spotswood in the state semifinals if they each advance in the state quarterfinal games this upcoming Friday, March 1.
