RE: More about Smith
"We might not have everything that other schools have. Who cares? This is a family. Coach Carey says, 'Smart, tough, relentless.' I love it."

He's too small. He didn't get offers from the big programs. He's a running back playing defensive end. He works in DeKalb, Illinois.

Sutton Smith isn't supposed to succeed. And yet he does.

It's an NIU thing.

Great statement to counter the team is in disarray negativity.

"This is the hardest semester of my life academically, so my schedule is full every minute," Smith said. "But it's unbelievable how it's worked out. I love it here. It's a special place."

Smith is a model everyone should follow. So extremely fun and an honor to see him play this year. That might be the biggest blessing of a bowl game to see him play once more

Thank you for sharing this link. It is so refreshing to read something positive about the program.

Sutton Smith is worth the price of admission to any and all NIU football games.

I like the article because it shuts down all the haters who are constantly berating the program. They look for any reason to find fault with the current coaching staff, administration and players (i.e. quitting on the team). This article gives us a very good perspective on the current program; and, dare I say it, Carey's ability to develop players.

The article about the bowl game from the perspective of the Detroit players was good too. Felt it was positive and shot down a lot of the rumors that players aren't interested in the bowl.

That's a great article. Thanks for posting the link.

It makes me feel good about our defense for next year.

Lee walking out on the team is not positive, I don't care how you spin it. If you can somehow spin that as a positive, you are a magician

You must be unable to find a positive in anything. I made no mention of Lee. I'm talking about the team being interested. If one guy out of 85+ decides not to play that's not the end of the world. I still haven't heard this rumor to be confirmed either. By the way, I thought I posted "shot down" and not a swear word but might of had a typo.
