RE: BBJ: Birmingham shouldn't risk $30M on Legion Field upgrades
Alabama and Auburn did not build up their stadiums until they decided to pull their major games out of a Legion Field that had been constantly enlarged and updated to suit their requests. Auburn pulled out first because they felt that Jeffco was an Alabama dominant area, and Bama followed suit in the 1980s after the Tide Pride program began charging premiums for the best seats in their stadium. After that, every game played in B'ham stood to cost Bama about $3 million per game because they could not legally force about 5,000 of prime location seat holders to pay that premium and they could not sell those tickets to anyone else.
The City Commission had built the upper deck and then B'ham had paid to build the North End Zone seating while getting a promise from Bama for 5,000 tickets there to be only for B'ham residents. In the 80s, Bama then pulled their conference games out leaving one or two OOC games for Legion Field. Then they pulled those games out too as soon as they could. Every improvement at Legion Field between the 60s and the 80s had been to Bama's specifications. Then they walked away and started the enlargement of Denny Stadium where they had total ticket control.
Legion Field should be replaced by a modern building - BJCC stadium or MPF - as soon as it can be agreed upon by the money people, and it should be ASAP. Until that day comes, we will have to keep Legion Field decently active as the only venue with its capacity in the metro area.

You are literally wrong 100% of the time. That Tennessee game when Peyton beat UAT at Legion Field? That was 1995. The Iron Bowl didn't go to that sh!thole down I-59 until 1997. I was at UAB in the early 2000s and distinctly remember playing a Thursday night game at Legion Field, and they had already put the UAT paint in the endzones. Those crimson inbreaders had definitely not left Legion Field in the 1980s.

Alabama and Auburn have "on campus stadiums". Legion Field is not an on campus stadium. It is surrounded by thousands of "DOPE DEALERS" who live in the neighborhoods surrounding Legion Field. Spend THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS upgrading and improving Legion Field and building parks in neighborhoods around it? NO! Absolutely not. A BAD INVESTMENT! Nothing in return. You won't drive out crime in that area, ever! You can't evict them. Such a waste! Build DOWNTOWN! That is a great INVESTMENT that will bring MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars in RETURN.

If you can show that Bama played most of its conference home games at Legion Field well into the 90s, then I made an error, not "wrong 100% of the time". 1995 is not a huge time span from the 80s.
The Iron Bowl moved to AU before Bama was ready to host it in T-town. The ticket split had been 50-50 before either team moved, but was now 90-10 like it was in Auburn. The Tide did play one or two OOC games per season in Legion Field after moving their home conference games to campus, but did quit those too as soon as they could - which is what I said above.

I don't think thousands of people live in that neighborhood, dope or no dope. It looks pretty empty.

Thousands of "Dope Dealers"?
Well, thats one way to get the citizens to agree on why the city THEY live in, should support a stadium thats only going to be used by UAB. Because as stupid as your view and comment sounded, many see the new proposed stadium as being only for UAB.
One problem is the view that the stadium is being solely for UAB and when you look on twitter and facebook you cant help but get that impression. Not to mention that it seems the majority of people calling for Legion Field to be demolished or torn down, Dont reside in Birmingham or continue to down the people in that area.

Gorilla and BBF both come from the darkest timeline.
