Same time slot, noon Saturday, four conference championship games:
BIG XII, 5,896,000 viewers
AAC, 3,385,000 viewers
MAC, 652,000 viewers
CUSA, 255,000 viewers

Same time slot, prime time Saturday (starts between 1945-2015) three conference championship games:
BIG 10, 12,918,000
ACC, 5,428,000
mwc 623,000

Man....CUSA fan interest and viewership has just completely collapsed. In 2011 the CUSA CCG in a sold out Robertson Stadium hit 3 million viewers on ABC. Just six years later, an ESPN2 telecast of the CUSA CCG in a nearly empty stadium attracted only 255K viewers. I would have expected a drop off due to realignment....but thats a shocking drop off. I mean the CUSA CCG viewership numbers were almost twice that number just 2 years ago.

The CUSA of 2011 had similar membership as the AAC of 2017.

EAST: UCF, Memphis, ECU, Southern Miss, Marshall, UAB
WEST: Houston, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, Rice, UTEP

And, that 2011 CCG featured two ranked teams - #18 Houston v. #20 Southern Miss.

In 2017, the CCG featured former Sun Belt teams.

The g4 numbers are embarrassing. You can put up jv high school football and get similar ratings. I'm not sure what they can do. #g4playoff

Want to know the worst part? CUSA is currently in necgotiations for thier next deal. The current deal (except for BEin) expires at the end of this sports season (July 2018).

They may have to pay broadcast their own content

They just need to have facebook, or something like that, pay production costs in exhcange for free content. I don't see much future for them in broadcast tv.

Two years ago:
Noon Saturday Championship weekend
3,943,000 viewers: Texas-Baylor (not CCG, Baylor was playing for second)
2,450,000 viewers: AAC CCG
488,000 viewers: CUSA CCG

8pm Saturday Championship weekend
9,818,000 viewers: Big10 CCG
7,919,000 viewers: ACC CCG
2,582,000 viewers: PAC12 CCG
362,000 viewers: mwc CCCG

Wow we've been on par with the pac12 ccg ratings ratings for a while now 04-cheers

Makes me question why are they getting their money while we are getting our money.

And when they get a terrible TV deal, that's another vote the P5 can buy, when they pitch an 8 team playoff that gives Alabama, OK, and Ohio State automatic bids.

I still believe the G4 will eventually get tired of waiting for the AAC and because they are cash starved and cash strapped, they form their own playoff. The AAC will probably have a standing offer to join, of which we never will.

Espn wants this bad. They want the G group to accept a decent cash payout for their own playoff and complete the Power vs Group narrative they created when they colluded to destroy the Big East.

Again, the AAC is the thorn in the side on this. ESPN NEEDS the AAC to join this G Playoff because STATISTICS prove we have far and away the best TV ratings, the best attendance, and our schools are for the most part in major metro areas.

Aresco needs to stay the course and not agree to this nonsense. Let the G4 have their playoff. It's meaningless.

I am wary of ESPN machinations. Their weakened state, like a wounded Tiger in a corner, makes them desperate and dangerous.

I would love for the G4 to develop a playoff. Hopefully the next TV deal for the AAC allows us to keep floating and the G4 get hit hard and go for a playoff. If that happens, the P5 may swallow the bitter pill and simply include the AAC because that will be the only loose string left and then have their complete break.
