Huge game this weekend
That’s right, JMU at Richmond hoops. Isn’t this what everybody has been waiting for all week?
Probably not as this one looks to be a big pillow fight.
Amazingly, Richmond has a worse record than the Dukes at 1-8 and they aren’t just losing, they are getting crushed.
The Spiders are anemic on offense scoring only 63 pts/game.
Louis Rowe is a self-described defensive coach yet his team is giving up 78 pts/game which puts them 281st in the country. The Dukes are allowing an astonishing 40% from 3pt land.

Terrible offense vs terrible defense. Somebody has to be less terrible, right?

This is about as easy a road game as you can hope for. Time to take advantage of what could be a historically bad year for the Spiders. They finished 4-22 in the late 70’s and are on track to approach that record.

Instead of having a great in-State rivalry game with bragging rights and recruiting implications, we have a matchup of teams just trying to survive and hoping not to lose their fanbase for the rest of the year.

Sounds like another coach who graced our sidelines...He wound up playing a lot of young guys early on which is now paying experience dividends on the gridiron. But they sure did stink as a unit on defense 4 years ago.

RE: Huge game this weekend
Last years team was good on defense and poor on offense - this year's team has been pretty good on offense (less turnovers, more 3 pointers, more assists, etc.) and not as imposing on defense (although they are turning other teams over more). I'm surprised some folks haven't pointed to Mike Deane as the reason for the change.

I think it's just the personnel. They will get better on defense as the year goes on and these guys learn to play together, fine tune their technique and know where to be on the floor. I think McLean is their weak link right now- I'd like to see Lewis Mosely Banks Snowden and Phillips on the floor together as starters. Bring Joey off the bench with Jones, Jacobs, and Scissum.

Will be there. RVA craft beer reception before game, easier to watch 2 bad teams under the influence.

Richmond 72

I haven't checked but I'm guessing Richmond is already struggling with numbers - they've been running free ticket promos on local radio stations all week. Craft beer and free tickets.

Yes! This game just got better. Basketball and Brews promotion.
JMU could learn from this for future home games.

I went to see Georgetown and Richmond.

Richmond has a guard that is 6'3" 240 pounds. This guy bulls his way to the basket and can finish.

This guy could score 40 against JMU.

For those making a brewery trip out of this, don't go to The Veil, The Answer, Triple Crossings, or Hardywood. There's no way you'd leave any of those places for the game!

Game moved from today at 6PM to tomorrow at 2PM due to the snow. Not sure if TV will be the same or not based on the change.

With this and Notre Dame at Delaware at 7:00 P.M., the CAA was supposed to have two games on TV at the same time, but now they won't.

RE: Huge game this weekend
Fortunately, the JMU basketball game at FIU doesn’t start until 7:30 tomorrow night so most fans should be able to listen/watch after the football playoff game is over.
The Dukes need to sneak out a road win because their next game they will be heavy underdogs against Florida.

It will be interesting for the simple fact that Rowe is coaching against his former boss, coach Evans. They spent one year together at FIU.

JMU 73
FIU 72

As FYI, FIU has removed this game as available for live streaming via conferenceusa.com so it will be radio or live stats only.
