We are all in this conference together. It is in all of our best interest for every school in this conference to do as good as they can. I am happy to have you all as conference mates. I was excited to see what FAU did this year in football. It was pretty damn cool. UNT also had a great season and is headed up. What UAB did this year I think is the top story in FBS football this season.

How cool is it to have 9 teams in a bowl and should have had 10. I would love for every school to win here so I can learn to hate some schools here as a real rival. I am jealous of the 100 miles of hate rivalry with MTSU and WKU. Any conference is going to be divided at times. Such is the nature of the beast, but dadgum it, we are in this boat together regardless of what some think. As long as you all lose to USM I will be really happy.

North Texas School of Music Rejects spent almost a century swirling around the toilet bowl of bottom level football, clamoring at the cling-on's on the rim trying to stay relevant. Right as they got the hand of mercy from CUSA, we were standing next to them (a 3 year old program) on the same level. This pisses them off and they've been dick heads ever since.

That should sum it up pretty well.

I've never met a UTSA fan that was a decent human being outside of Volkmar. All they do is troll and talk ****(I like to refer to them as the University of Talking **** Always). Some UNT fans don't like they were invited to CUSA so quickly, but I understand it was for the SA market, and not because they were some athletic/academic juggernaut. They talk about us being nothing but a music school, when in fact we're a tier 1 research university. We refer to them as a community college because they're a subsidiary of the UT system and a big commuter school(AKA not a "real university") when they actually have some good programs.

The games are always chippy. It's just one of those things. I hate you, you hate me.

Some UNT fans also think UTSA is beneath us from a rivalry perspective. They hang on to hating SMU, even though it's more of a one sided rivalry. Some UTSA fans think UNT isn't a "lofty enough" rival to shoot for.

Got it. I had seen many of the references, but didn't know that much of hate was rooted with the quickness of UTSA joining CUSA.

I hold no grudges against North Texas, or anyone else for that matter. And I really don't understand how some will hold grudges against an entire fan base or school, for the actions or words of a few they take issue with. Doesn't seem like something an adult does, and I think many are too quick to take things personally. There are UNT supporters who'll try to push buttons even when I'm trying to be civil, and there are UTSA supporters who try to push buttons even when someone from UNT will try to be civil. But I'm not gonna sit here and say this or that about North Texas just because one, two, or more people are being a little juvenile online.

I'll honestly say that sometimes I let myself slide and make a generalization about a school also, like SMU and their extended history of NCAA violations. I don't hold a grudge against SMU though. But there are people who do this sort of stuff on a regular basis, sometimes even without any basis in facts, or with a complete lack of perspective, and actually do hold real grudges.

And I get that some of you enjoy this stuff and do it because you think it's fun. But where do these grudges come from if this back-and-forth stuff is allegedly just for fun? There are definitely people who tend to take things too far, who let trivial matters control their mindset, and they always seem to find each other in opposing fan bases to manufacture these rivalries we like to talk about. That can be good for a sport if the rivalry generates more interest among the fans, but let's hope we never let it get to the point of European soccer hooligans.

I'm rooting for a 9-0 CUSA run for the next few weeks... and then I'll go back to hating everyone equally again (Unless we're playing you that week, and then I'll hate you twice as much for one week :) )
