CFP committee kills off Cinderella
At this time of year, I write my annual "why the CFP is a sham" column. This year, it took a darker turn. LOL. Anyway, just thought I would share it, coming from a mid-major guy in the heart of Big 12 country. Some of the folks at the MAC board that it should be shared here as well.

I'm hoping that an expansion of the CFP to 8 teams will allow a Cinderella to get in. Doubtful though

Never. The CPC rules are nebulous, subjective and biased. If you think OOC games with P5 teams are hard to get now just wait if that happens.

RE: CFP committee kills off Cinderella
What a depressing article. College football is horrible. It's not even real. At least in the NCAA basketball tournament imbalances like those found in football can be corrected. When the selection committee caused Wichita State and ChicKUn to meet up in the 2nd round, they were doing exactly the opposite of what the CFP does to non-power teams. And you better believe we stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park - just as UCF might knock one out of the park too.

How incredible would it be if UCF won the national championship. It would energize fanbases and programs at every level throughout the FBS landscape. Coaches would believe. Players would believe. The way it is now, Frost must leave UCF because he knows the door to the highest prize is closed to him. Gregg Marshall at Wichita State knows he doesn't belong to the club, but he sure as **** can grab that championship trophy and laugh in the face of the cheaters, colluders, and oligopolists.

Why won't someone fix football... once and for all? Fine, they can keep their money... but at least leave the door open so that anybody can win it all. Have the playoff pairings voted on by a large number of coaches and media people, not some tiny, corrupt committee. And include more teams in the playoffs. Survive and advance, just like March Madness.

Spot on. This current system is just an extension of the BCS. Designed to protect the P5 and blue bloods. How they continue to get away with this sham is beyond me.

That's exactly why they don't want it to happen. There's too much money at stake and they rely on this "P5" narrative to support that. Once that's gone, top recruits won't have to go to certain schools if they want to play for championships which hurts their recruiting. Then without the same level of talent, their on field performance collectively starts to drop and equalizes with the rest of the field. Then without the performance gap, their TV contracts shrink which gives them even less of an advantage. It has a snowball effect on their bottom line.

They've been able to contain premium branding in college basketball while still giving the littler guys a chance. Alabama will still be Alabama; cheaters will still cheat.

No, FBS college football is not horrible. The way it’s mismanaged, or more correctly not managed, by the NCAA is truly horrible. I true travisty. The sport itself is amazing and fun as hell.

It is exactly the BCS with some new clothes and an additional couple to make it a double date. It’s every bit as nauseating as the BCS.

Same thing with the Heisman it’s a sham -the Heisman is not the best player in the nation its the best player amonst the blue bloods (that are having a good year). I don't even watch anymore nor do I care who wins. it’s like watching Ron Richardson win the obstacle course in his own backyard on Mr. Mom and then bragging about it.

In the BCS, all the voting and computer calcs were public, in the new system we have no idea what goes on in the committee room. For all we know, they just get blitzed and wait for ESPN to tell them the rankings.

The P5 basically traded the access slot for it never ever being possible for an outsider to get into the playoff.

I do think people forget the end of the BCS, where coaches would rank teams ahead of them 25. At least it was public.

Exactly. They have marginalized the Heisman. Just another popularity contest for the biggest programs with the most hype from ESPN.

How many Heisman winners make it big in the NFL
