Carey is a fairly young coach. I wish a reporter would ask him who his mentor is/was, and if he would even say anybody.

This article about Carey as soon as he got the job talks about his rise a little bit. He played for Mallory at IU so i figured he would be a big mentor for Rod. Has some quotes from him in there too.

He's inconsistent just like his "off the field" interviews. Obviously you're not willing to acknowledge Carey is sorely lacking when it comes to interviews even though he's not as bad as before, so I suggest you or Carey tell STF not to waste his precious time having to answer "dumb questions" from the home network or not cooperate with the TV folks either leaving the field or returning. That requirement certainly has less of an impact than all the midweek games which makes the MAC non-existent on November Saturdays. Again, if neither you or Carey can recognize the poor image he often projects, then yikes, explain why no one has come after him for a coaching vacancy?

Interesting article, Thank you. Even he admits how fast things went for him so it does kinda imply he might
have been learning a bit on the fly. It would be interesting to know if he ever spoke or sought advice from
Mallory or any other head coach.

He has often mentioned that he regularly talks with coach Novak.
