Anyone know the amount of pilings they can drive in a days time?

OK engineers, exactly how does the pile driver operator know where to place a piling? I don't see anything on the ground marking a spot. Does he have some type of guidance system ?

It’s been laid out in CAD and the points have been imported into a rover (a handheld GPS) system that shows the points in real space. The rover tells you exactly where the pile should go

Wish we could hear more regarding the end zone and scoreboard. Even if it’s just a timeline on when to expect improvement there.

Still think it will be awkward with 4 light posts on one side and 2 on the other. Isn't there a chance of in-equal shadows?

There will probably be light on the press box just like the renderings. That is very low on the list of things to be worried about

Ya, I wasn't kidding when I said they hired the best*. They wouldn't forget about the lights.

They honestly just may not know yet what exactly the plan is. Things can change quickly and I'm sure the University different want to promise something it can't deliver after the whole waterfront stadium fiasco

RE: NEW stadium construction
More questions for you engineers.

I read the pilings have to be spliced together to make 85 feet. How is that done? Are they spliced after the first piling is driven in or before?

If you look at the pile driver on the west side, north end, is it an optical illusion or are the pilings going in at an angle?

See this is conflicting to me and why I wish ODU would come out and announce their plan for the stadium. We have heard that work could start as early as next year on the north endzone but there is no way they can pay off Phase 1 by next year.

ODU needs to come out with a full anticipated timeline for the stadium.

I was just reading a study on how to motivate people towards a goal. One of the methods discussed in terms of fund raising was to make major announcements after 50% has been raised. People don't want to be the first to donate towards a large goal that may never be achieved. People tend to flock to help as you get closer and closer to the goal.

RE: NEW stadium construction
I have a couple questions about the design if someone wants to opine.
On the Hampton side, outside of the stadium I see a multileveled porch or gathering area. (50 yard line - for reference)
1) What is that?
2) Also, is this where the purchased bricks will be displayed?
3) Inside the stadium on the same side, upper deck. It appears that 3-4 rows of seating are missing from the 50YL to the goal line. What is this for?

In response to item no. 1, I believe what your referencing is the back side of the mezzanine area. My response to item no. 3, is that area is most likely a handicap seating area for wheelchairs, similar to what you see at the Ted and Harbor Park.

That much handicapped seating? From the endzone to 50 yard line?

Ah... I see what your talking about now. No, I think that may just be an optical illusion in the rendering.

BTW, nothing gets built by renderings. They are just a general representation. In fact, very little gets built by the architectural, structural and MEP plans. They are much more than a general reference, but the details of what actually get built are done via vendor, supplier and subcontractor shop drawings and submittal data. This is what's on-going at this time behind the scenes. I'm sure some VE (value engineering) is also going on, during this process and they are fine tuning design elements based on budgets and schedules.

Probably. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires a percentage of total seating be allocated as accessible seating. ADA Accessible Stadiums Info

That's possible, although I believe HC seating can be accomplished at field level and in the endzones as well. If that area is depicted correctly in the rendering, then it could just be a slightly larger egress area.
