RE: NEW stadium construction
With the season end in Nov. we have to be hearing about the final plans on the stadium soon. There were still some TBD's (scoreboard, seats, luxury boxes, north end zone, etc) that depending on $ and other factors could be apart of the phase 1 construction. Anyone hearing anything ?

RE: NEW stadium construction
I talked to somebody a couple weeks ago and it didn't sound like any of that was on the table. The scoreboard may be upgraded, but was specifically told it will not be on top of the Gameday building and will be nothing like what Liberty had. Was told that if you like Liberty's stadium, don't expect ours to be that nice. The only thing I am aware that they are still tweaking are plans for the concourses. I wouldn't expect any major bells and whistles if you haven't already heard about them.

Ever since the first announcement of the waterfront stadium, each ensuing announcement has been a disappointment with no positive surprises. I wouldn't expect anything new either.

Honestly...I think the Liberty stadium opened some eyes. I can't help but think they are still working to get donations for an upgraded Jumbotron/scoreboard, and perhaps even improved in stadium gathering locations.

I think the second part of that is true. The scoreboard part, they may be working on an improved option, but my understanding is that there will not be some spectacular scoreboard coming soon.

I'm not worried about a spectacular scoreboard. I just want everyone in the stadium to be able to see it. Either add a second, or move it from where it is now.

That is the problem...for everyone to see it they have to move it and that drives a large part of the cost. I think it is a waste to upgrade the existing scoreboard and leave it in the current locations where about 1/3 of the people can't see it. To me move it and do it right because of the benefit to the attendees and game atmosphere/experience.

Unless we do two screens diagonally across each other it will be the case for 1/3 of the stadium no matter where you install it. I don't think any of us are expecting the Jumbotron from that populous design reveals but if we do upgrade the existing one we have to do it right if not save the money until we can get one that makes more sense for what the stadium is going to be.

RE: NEW stadium construction
VP article from the spring said new scoreboard, ribbon banners (ribbon scoreboards? not sure on terminology) and new turf was coming, already paid for and outside of the $65MM for the stadium. I do think it said they were looking for a corporate sponsor to upgrade the scoreborad even further.

You're correct i remember reading something along those lines. Yay free stuff even though it really comes from our budget it feels like free stuff don't know why. Good that we are getting those. If we can get a corporate sponsor for our scoreboard it will be sweet if not i guess we can live with what ever improvements we make to the score board and that eye sore we call north stands which looks like a castaway anyways.

RE: NEW stadium construction
I hope they do a focused fundraiser or get a dedicated donation to do a top of the line scoreboard / sound system located in the best location in the stadium. I can see a donor putting up the extra $500k to $1M for the naming rights to make this happen. This is not an item that should be done on the cheap.

Yes, they have budgeted for a new scoreboard in the same pcrice range as LU. Our people talked with LU about their scoreboard while there , cost etc. they plan to build it outside the $65M laid out for the remodel. They have budgeted the same amount of money as LU said cost them.

What I have been told as well. I did also hear that without the redo on the North Endzone (students-band) they don't know how/where to put it for next season. Anyone heard anything on that issue?

I wonder what is stopping them from setting it up on the game day(Ainslie) building.

They have reserved the north corner of the east side grandstand for student and band. They are hoping to have the redo of the north end zone along with the, now almost budgeted, top of the line scoreboard added to phase 1 outside the 65M budget.

All depends on if they can raise the money to redo the north end zone to more of a pregame student gathering area and event site. If they can't raise the $1-1.5M then it will stay the way it is with a scoreboard over top of it. That would not be good because the students would not be able to see it. To me the New larger Hi res. scoreboard and the student end zone redo should be tied together and used as a fund raising thrust.

This is the best stadium news Ive heard in a long time. Raise the money. Ask for the money. I know its easier to go for the 1 big gift, but let the average fans step up an play a role too. If they can get a great scoreboard and north end zone done in phase 1 I'll be thrilled. The only thing missing would be the suites.
