Not sure about the no stadium renovation part but i was surprised/concerned by the lack of commentary around the spring game as well. It definitely seems like some of the fan excitement has died down.
My bigger concern than the fan buzz following the spring game was the lack of news on the recruiting front. I know typically that is a big day to have recruits on campus. Just going from memory, i seem to recall a few commitments coming out of the spring games in the past and there were none this year. I may be off on that.

Well, yeah, it has been 7 years since we have had an NCAA basketball team and there is no buzz there so we aren't exactly a basketball school right now either.
Of course we don't have real "butts in seats" data, and you can feel free to argue otherwise, but actual football attendence has been plummeting for several years. I know it, you know it, everyone here knows it.

The last spring game commitment was Jamez Brickhouse for the 2015 class. The last 2 years, our first commits were in May and June. 2017's first commit, Julian Sams, committed on June 13th. 2016's first commit was Drayton Arnold who committed on May 14th.

Disingenuous. The lack of butts in seats didnt happen until we lost a bunch of games last season (Rice, Charlotte). WKU, UNC and FAU had good turnouts. Two of those games turned ugly fast and fans bolted.

...and we should have won that WKU game. I’m still not over the personal foul that turned the game. Worst call ever.

One of the worst calls I've seen in our stadium, and there have been a lot of those. Remember CAA refs? Every time they blew the whistle you knew they were making some Bull S up.

Yes indeed - I do remember the CAA refs. I still remember a pass interference call in the early days against B&M. Horrible call. And then Laycock heated things up further by calling us a dirty team after the game. I would love to keep playing them as our fcs tune up.

Right. But if there's an increase in construction costs and ODU wasn't allowed to spend more to account for it, that money would have to be taken from somewhere off the stadium. So hopefully this puts us back to the original vision.

Finally some good news on the stadium
Yup and yup, so now it is official.
Correction. This means the house approved it so it still has to go to the senate. Not official just yet

Thats the way I read it. We drug our feet and the Cox bill happened and construction cost rose. I would hope the added $10 million helps us get something at least as good as the original "phase one" Populous plan. Thats not an insignificant amount of cash. Maybe once (if?) the Senate approves it we will finally hear something.

RE: NEW stadium construction
Thats a new rendering, so theres something. And it doesn't look too bad, at least from that angle. From the way I read it, its like this:
Good News:
The thing is actually happening
More legroom
Seat backs on bleachers
Some chairs in the midfield sidelines.
Some new club seats
New restrooms and concessions
The concourse area sounds nice
Bad News:
Not all chair seating
No new scoreboard
No new suites
No end zone
Its costs $10 million more for much less because the admin dragged their feet so long.
If we could have added some suites, replaced the end zone and scoreboard, even with the reduced seating and bleachers, I would have been pretty excited. As it is, at least its an upgrade. Lets hope phase 2 happens ASAP.
