RE: NEW stadium construction
Sorry to interrupt the chatter, but I took some pictures today.
BTW I think we may be missing a recruitment opportunity.... never saw dudes run so fast as contractors when lightning is striking nearby! lol.

As all the pictures were loading, they were HUGE. However they all adjusted down after the last pic loaded.

BTW I didn't notice last season but those big light poles definitely sway in the wind, even just a steady breeze.

RE: NEW stadium construction
Lets talk about the new stadium capacity vs tickets sold / attendance
- first off season tickets sales usually have decreased each year. There is no back log of people waiting to buy tickets
- just came off a poor season besides the VT win
- we have increased the # of seats by approx. 2500
- likely this year with reseating and change in ODAF donation approach including seat reservation fees this will likely hurt even further the # of season ticket holders
- I just don't think we have any chance of selling out this stadium.
- Tickets for seats can be had for close to $100.
- I have not seen any major marketing campaigns for season ticket
- it would be horrible to open this stadium to a 1/3 empty stadium. I would venture to say we have about 6000-8000 tickets open for purchase.

I think you are dead wrong. People have been waiting for this stadium for so long. I think the increased amenities will do wonders for the fans. We have one of the best fan bases in C-USA. You don’t have a 60+ games sellout streak in a crap stadium without good fans.

NEW stadium construction
I figured FOMO is a good tool with the seat licenses to keep people who were on the edge from bailing this season.

Honestly, after seeing the math where new people can leapfrog others who have been giving for decades, I'm kind of hoping the heavy marketing doesn't occur until after the seats are selected. That would be too nice of them though.

I highly doubt the first game will not be a sellout especially if we can expect 1000 NSU fans. However if this is another 4 win season I don't think you'll see the new "streak" start this season.

RE: NEW stadium construction
Seems a bit pessimistic to me. If nothing else thecuriosity about the new stadium will ensure a sell out opening day. If sales for the Priority Club is any kind of barometer, I think we'll see plenty of sell outs, especially if we win some games. Priority sold out in a heart beat

NEW stadium construction
Is it me or does it look like the base level corridors (where all the bathrooms and concessions are located) are pretty narrow? And somewhat dungeon like?

Otherwise thanks for posting the pics!

Not 100% correct. The video part will be much larger. The overall size of the scoreboard will not be much larger is correct.

Any upgrade is good but this only caters to the home side when it comes to the line of sight of the video board. The visitor side is going to be iffy at best.

I guess 2,000-3,000 people will not be able to see the videoboard at all, maybe more.

that may not be a problem if they would simply raise the new videoboard 10 feet or so

RE: NEW stadium construction
The first game will likely sell out. so will ECU because ECU will buy all our unsold tickets like VT did. ECU travels well.

Here is how I figured out 6-8K seats open.
Last year we were on average about 1000 seats / game not sold or returned
2500 additional seats this year in the new stadium
I figured another approx. 10% reduction in season ticket holders - 1300
Plus an extra reduction of tickets of about 500 from people who were using current season ticket holder to get tickets and are now not going to pay the seat reservation fee. Will they return and buy tickets on their own ?
Returned tickets from away teams allotment on average 750.

Maybe 6-8K seats is a little too high. based on the above maybe 4500. That is a lot of tickets to sell in less than 3 months.

Doesn't seem narrow to me. 20-25 foot wide would be my minimal guess

Kind of strange you aren't accounting for the novelty of a new stadium at all. Your projection might be accurate if they threw up 2500 bleachers on top of the clamshell

I am not saying the novelty of the new stadium will not help but that will help with the people that just like football not ODU Alumni who have not bought tickets in the past. Are there 4500 people in the region that will buy ODU season tickets and or single game tickets because of the new stadium ? I think it will be VERY challenging in 3-4 months. I am sure ODU wants more season ticket holders. Why are not more ODU Alumni in the area buying tickets ?
