I have a family friend on the Missouri team and have followed them all season. That offense only clicked against the weaker defenses in the SEC. The only good defense it performed against was Auburn .....

Danny White saw the Mizzou-UCONN game and fell in love.

Growing up in Oklahoma, Josh Heupel and the 2000 Sooners National Championship team was what really got me started in following football as a kid. His hire surprises me, but I hope it works out for UCF.

If you do any research at all, you'll find that Heupel and Shannon are both great hires. Congrats to UCF.

No one knows if this is underwhelming or a home run. Getting Shannon as DC is an excellent choice. Give a coach a chance before making any judgments. I know when NCSU got rid of our Basketball coach many wanted a big name, I was thrilled with Coach Keats coming from UNC-W. Okay for sarcastic note, if he is at a P5 in two years, you know it was a home run hire.

Seriously, I wish most HC success at their new jobs unless they are called Tar Heels or Pirates.

You simply have to trust White's decision making at this point.

It's not the 'sexiest' hire but given the current situation it could work. Hiring at 0-12 and trying to rebrand is a little different than hiring at 12-0 and trying to keep it going

UCF may have an Ollie-UCONN situation on their hands: Quality players inherited by a questionable/sub-par coach.

These next few years could be very deceiving in determining whether Heupel was a good hire.

We are 12-0 with most every key piece returning next year.

We didn’t need some massive splash hire. UCF needed someone to keep the offense rolling and guys who can recruit their ass off, and they did exactly that.

The guy with a 7th ranked SEC offense just took over the #1 scoring offense and has to play AAC defenses.

That #7 ranking is a bit deceiving. Here are Mizzou's wins:
