The UCF football players have been called into a team meeting at 11 a.m. - the belief is that's when the new coach will be introduced to them.

WSPD reports Candle interviewing as we speak and not his first. Will be lucky to keep CC but that's U of Toledo, have to roll with it.

Yeah, I agree--this sounds really odd. UCF was a good potential match for Candle, in a variety of ways. But now what's left? Memphis coach is staying...Arkansas wants a higher profile name...Tennessee is a train wreck at the moment (and in both cases, I think their fan bases would riot if someone who doesn't have "southern roots" ended up being hired). Oregon? Rumor is Sumlin wants that one & that's why he passed on UCF. Most other coaching openings are at schools not on Toledo's level in terms of football success...

The only other thought I had was if a major program has an opening at OC and could pay him more than he's getting here, but that would mean taking a step backwards, at least temporarily.

Candle may have never gotten to interview stage with UCF, but he clearly was on their radar and very possible UCF reached out to his agent to gage interest/cost

anyone else notice that John Buccigross of ESPN commented on coach Hallett in the tweet below the picture? Don't know much about Hallett, but he did a great job with an OL that took a number of casualties - and next man up did the job. Now he will just have to work with the next center to make sure he snaps the ball to the midsection of the QB...

Anybody know his background? Looks like a great hire for the OL coach. DL coach seems to be equally impressive - but I don't know who it is.

Bucci went to Heidelberg. JC Hired Hellett from Heidelberg College.

Hallett had been HC at Heidelberg for several years. Had a 55-36 record, after taking over a team that had lost 36 straight games. Took them to the DIII playoffs for the 1st time ever.

He's a Mount Union Alum.
