I basically agree. That said, he did get the IPF built, the basketball practice facilty built, and the basketball arena renovation. He did some decent fund raising. I didnt find him to be very good at energizing the fan base, improving the fan experience, or raising the media profile of the school. I thought he generally did a solid job--but I didnt see him as some HUGE asset. I thought he was thoroughly average.

But didn't Mack basically have the wheels in motion for that stuff?

The baseball practice facility is half built, and has been for a while.

Apparently its a weird deal where a key commitment fell through. From everything Ive heard Whitting is a very effective fund raiser...so, Im sure he will get it handled eventually. FWIW--From what I understand Coach Todd is the key guy lining up donors for all those baseball improvments you have seen the last few years.

My hire lot of people might not like it would be Tom Jurich. I know things happened on his watch....but the guy is masterful AD and would be worth the risk IMO long as they keep a tight rein, on him

Interesting, but I think we all know Renu isnt going to go there. If he is interested, I'd go get the Arky State AD (Terry Mohajir) and call it a day. He worries constantly about the fan experience, is a good fund raiser, believes you can always do better, and understands the issues of a G5 school. Plus, he actually does interviews, talks to the media, and communicates with the fan base. It would be nice to have a guy like that on Cullen for a change.

Terry Mohajir is an Arkansas State alum. Might be why he's so involved, and may be hard to get him to leave.

Like I said--if he is interested. I listened to an interview with him not long ago and he said you have to be passionate about your work. He said, something to the effect, 'yeah--this is my alma mater, but I was just as focused and passionate about what I do at FIU as I am here.' He has a weekly 15-30 minute interview spot on a radio station in Jonesboro. I like to listen to his interviews because he's one of the more open and forthcoming AD's Ive ever heard and I ussually learn something every time I hear the guy. I think he would be really good with the media here--and we need somebody like that.

Sorry but I don't want someone with G4 mentality for Houston.

With the basketball facility in full motion Houston will soon have most facilities upgraded for the upcoming top recruits. Hehe

Need someone that's three times better than Hunter Yurachek.

"Jurich studied at Northern Arizona, graduating with a degree in finance and hustling in 1980"

Yeah...Good luck getting him away from his alma mater.

Mohajir would be hilarious at Houston though. He doesn't actually have an off switch. He'd drive A&M and Texas insane with the constant little jabs. I truthfully think the only reason Arkansas didn't actually go after him is because its taboo for them to show interest in someone at another Arkansas school.

Congratulations on getting rid of Yurachek though. All I heard for weeks was that Arkansas was going to hire an "Arkansas guy" to be their head coach, because that was Jeff Long's big fault, he didn't understand the culture. So naturally they hired an average AAC AD with no connection to the state.

Before he leaves Houston, would someone drop him a note about how instate rivalries are good for the state. Thanks!

lol...well, I hope we at least talk to him and test the waters. I think he would fit in really well here and is exactly the kind of guy we need...oh, and I completely agree--I think the Houston media would love him.

Agreed, think he is a good one. Hard to judge when he may move on. As an alum, dollars may not be everything. Prolly, when he feels he's reached the ceiling where he's at vs. opportunities.

I know Missouri sought him out for an interview a couple years ago and he said no. Different time period though.

Chris Pesman is the new AD. He is an assistant AD at Cal. Formerly was an football operations guy at UH and a former UH football player. Spent 10 years in operations at NRG stadium.

Pezman is a great hire! I'm really excited about this. Was in school when he was a player. Getting a new OC too! So glad Brian Johnson went to Florida! Christmas is coming early this year!

Im liking this hire alot more, especially because of his history with UH.

Unlike our last AD this guy will actually help the school.

Ive made it clear I was really hoping we'd make a run on Terry Mohajir. Funny thing is--as discussed, Mohajir is a alum and former player at Arky St. From what Ive heard, Pezmen, an fomer Coog letterman and alum is very personable---and might very well end up being our own version of Terry Mohajir. I guess we'll just need to keep our fingers crossed on that one.
