Oh I'm sure they are. Only thing that can fix that is being a gym rat and practice practice practice.

That's where the "negative" guys like us see the issue. We want to be excited about March Madness again. It's been too long, and we don't see any signs of that changing in the near future. Even with our current recruits, it'll be March of 2020 before that have that kind of impact.

Nothig wrong with stating and supporting your viewpoints with reason. I dont agree with much from monarchblue, but he is a good, valuable poster that adds worth to the board.

Interesting that the only people not talking about our actual basketball team are the people complaining about a lack of discussion about basketball.

Either way, I found that little moment telling. He's as frustrated as we are at those little things. Which brings me to my point. Yes, it all falls on the coach but sometimes you just expect a D1 player to be able to dribble.

I think critics are more concerned with the fact that he never shows positive emotion. He shows plenty of anger during games. And the episode you described is not the type that bothers me.

Smitty's question is a very good one. And it got glossed over.

There is a difference between a conversation where both parties are expressing a point of view and a broadcast where one side just creates a post count of who can last the longest and complain the loudest because everyone hasn't bought in after game 3, 4, or 5 of a season. Leaving it at that.

And ODU Bball's response is a good one. I know sometimes I get on well after getting home from a game and start catching up and finding posts that I want to reply to and that can end up with me posting 4 things in a row, each of which is a conversing with a previous poster.

Oops... totally didn't realize I am in the middle of doing it right now lol

Most mid-majors get kids who have a flaw in there game of some sort, inconsistency, lack of jump shot, poor handle, can't make foul shots you name it. They can play, but there is still a flaw somewhere. BJ's no different.

Well stated Old Dominion. I remember Kent had much the same issues putting the ball on the floor. I also remember watching Kent in the gym during his sophomore year working hard to correct that very thing. I watched him doing the dribble a ball in each hand at the same time drill while making cutting moves up and down the floor. It didn't turn him into Curly Neal, but it definitely helped to make him a better dribbler. Bottom line - BJ needs to put in some hours on his own working on this shortcoming.

Kent was amazing. I am not sure I have ever seen a player improve the way he did. He picked a deficiency each offseason and returned with that deficiency being a strength. In my opinion that is his greatest talent, his unfair advantage that made him good enough to be a long term pro.

My season ticksts are behind the bench and to say he never shows positive emotion is definitely an exaggeration.

My question to you is this. How long do we give JJ to reach the NCAA tournament? After how many years missing the tournament is it acceptable to fire him and move in a new direction IN YOUR EYES? I want to know.

And BTW I doubt hes going anywhere being that he wants our program to return to better days. The more and more I read his posts, the more I agree about mediocrity and some of our fans getting hyped up about beating no-bodies.

I don't respond to him at all and I believe that is the only time I've posted about him in the past year or 2. I try to ignore when you guys quote him as well. I block the posters that I don't believe are worth my time to read. Saves time for actual ODU news and discussion.

My judgement on whether Jones should stay or not is far more in depth than "has he gotten to tournament or not." At some point though, I agree that will be all that matters. When will I get to that point? I don't know yet.

I used to read his posts 10 years or however long ago it was. Nothing has changed except whatever argument is used to want the coach fired. Back in Blaines heyday, the argument was Blaine should be fired because he hasn't won enough tournament games and his style is boring. Certain posters will want the head coach fired no matter who the coach is. It's just a personality trait.

There are posters are extremely knowledgable that want Jones fired. They support their point of view with reason. Thats ok.

I understand. Blocking people just because you dont agree with opinion seems a bit childish to me but hey, I'm just another fan. For me to make valid opinions and statements, I need to read and make comments from information that comes from both sides of the fence. Not just the green pasture you think you're standing in.

As I pointed out, there are plenty of good posters that I never agree with. I don't block them. They add to the board. I don't have to agree with them. I brought up MonarchBlue; I agree with almost nothing he posts. I don't agree with alot of stuff ODU BBALL posts, but he supports his position.

Other posters add nothing but whining and childish personal insults. What value does saying the same thing over and over for 10 years with the addition of whatever personal insults you want to throw in add to the board? Does it increase our knowledge of the sports team? Does it provide news that we didn't previously know?

The poster I was referring to hasn't added news or knowledgeable constructive criticism in the time I've been involved with ODU message boards. Maybe that will change some day; people mature.

This just breaks my little heart because i value your opinion SO MUCH.

Things you've been wrong about:

1. Supporting Blaine while he was destroying the program.
2. Sugar coating his drunken appearance at the coaches show.
3. Defending the jones hire.
4. Claiming Rhoades sucks and jones is a better coach.
5. Stating our current group of freshman would be the saviors of the program (they can barely get on the court).
6. Constantly defending Jones's mediocre results with poorly supported counter arguments and then disappearing from a conversation when proven wrong.

Things you will be wrong about:

1. Jones ever getting us to the NCAA tourney.

I also laugh every time you struggle to idenitify what a zone is, always good for a laugh.

I didn't think anyone would ever pass t-Mac for worst poster on this board but my god, you have given it your all. Kudos!

Interesting that the only people not talking about our actual basketball team are the people complaining about a lack of discussion about basketball.

The hypocrisy is astounding. Every time we win the same posters say "where are the jones haters now?????"

Then if anyone dares show up and say "great we beat a 300 rpi team", they have to deal with the same posters complaining that we can't ever enjoy any wins lol.

It's truly mind blowing how much of a joke some of our fanbase is.

If you're happy with the basketball you are watching that's great, it's your opinion, you are definitely entitled to it.

Many of us are not and miss the days of skilled bigs like loughton, lee, vasylius, dahi, frank the tank etc.

Our program is nowhere near even where it was under Blaine and that is extremely disappointing for some of us. We think odu is capable of so much better. If you don't and are happy with jones, that is again, your opinion.

All I ask is that you stop complaining that other fans have different points of view. I don't care if you are ok with the status quo, just stop commenting on other fans "fanship" and stop attacking anyone who wants better and the board will be a much better place.

A cacophony of sycophants is the last thing this program needs right now.

You were just as negative about the Loughton, Drew, VV, Dahi and the Lee, Hassel, Finney, Bazemore teams. Sweet revisionist history, brah!

How do feel about tonight's game? Man did we play well. Do you think Brandan can bring that type of energy consistently?

Also a bold faced lie.

My problem was always that I didn't think Blaine got nearly enough out of these immensely talented players as he could have because of the system he played. That's obviously debatable, but the fact that those players would blow our current corps. completely out of the water is not.

Once again you've been caught being full of crap AND missing the point at the same time. The T-drain daily double!
