That little stunt with UNLV was a major deal, IMO. I had no problem with him coming back from UNLV, but I sure hope the University didn't pay for his plane ticket (UNLV had flown him out there on a private charter and when the deal fell apart, they told him to get his own self home...) and the next time he goes out interviewing, I hope he's got his office ready to move. His repeated failures to win against Xavier are an increasing issue and it's only exacerbated by his downplaying of the series (Mick claims this game is "nothing special") and now his outburst against JP Macura.
FWIW, I will note that if he had pulled a "Norman Dale" and hit Macura, we'd not be having this conversation. Mick would have been arrested and fired before the sun had set. So he's rather fortunate that the Xavier coaches "restrained" him because if Macura had called his bluff this whole thread would be moot. Which means that either Mick was prepared to throw away his career or he was merely being an ass and picking a fight that he knew would never happen.
I will also note that in the last couple of days, I have pondered what it means that it was the XAVIER coaching staff that corralled Mick (not Macura... they restrained Mick) and not his own staff. Personally, I think they should have let Mick go and see what would have happened. Barring that, it was the Xavier Police that should have...escorted...Mick off the premises. But Mick's own staff didn't seem all that interested in either protecting their boss or getting him off the floor. Usually when a confrontation happens, it's your own people who pull you away.
It's curious.
I think the staff was hiding behind the grassy knoll. Jeez Jerry.
You really don't find it interesting that nobody from the UC staff or players were close enough to Mick to grab his arm and pull him away?
OK. Nothing to see here, I'm moving along.
just curious do you ever have anything nice or good to say about the University of Cincinnati athletic programs? Asking for a friend.

Cronin is the man at Cincy. He’s a lifer by choice. And he’ll eventually break thru in the Tourney.

RE: Cronin
he'll never be huggs and i don't hold that against him. it might be difficult to replace him, he can recruit well enough to field a competitive annual tourney team but that's probably his limit. i can't see this team ever making a gigantic splash. with that in mind, i'm not willing to run him out the door, just hoping he sees his dream turning more into a nine to five and explores other opportunities. the grass is definitely greener brother

RE: Cronin
We are as far as we are going to go with Mick.
Solid recruiting, annual ncaa team, nationaly ranked on/off, 1 and done in ncaa at best, kids not in trouble and all graduate.
We are at the ceiling.

RE: Cronin
The conference change has killed him. He has not had anyone near the star power of Yancey Gates or Cash Wright since we left the Big East.

Then that's on him. XU, Gonzaga, Butler, Wichita State etc. were not in great conferences, in fact, worse than the AAC and this didn't stop them.

Agreed. UCONN's problem is the coach, not the conference.
