It's situations like this that will help expand the playoff to an 8-team setup within a year or two, with a 16-team system a few years after that. The viewership ratings would go through the roof.

I don't know about that.

I don't think the tOSU-OU game in September would have a ratings dip only because the game wouldn't matter as much, just like the AU-Bama game was still a game for the SEC west.

I would also think a week 11 game between #15 Oklahoma State and #21 Iowa State has a lot more intrigue now that it is still a "win and survive" game.

Like it or not Alabama IS the best program in college football right now. That may change at some point in the near future, but not today.
