UCF is not just some run of the mill G5. They had an offer out to Frost to sign an extension for $3.5 million a year. He obviously turned it down for even more money and the chance to go home. In addition to the current base salaries of the HC and assistant pool, the AD developed something call the coaching excellence fund which is donation based to sprinkle it in top of coaching staff and assistants to match P5 payrolls for the secondary staff. They are close to 7.5 million dollars in that fund to spread over 5 years. Lastly, UCFs facilities (outside of their stadium) is surprisingly better than UF, FSU, and Miami.

UCF is one of the ten largest research universities in the country and is the largest University in the state of Florida. It has a lot going for it.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Sumlin had until yesterday to give them his answer.

Oldest daughter graduated from college 4 years ago and was accepted at the major schools in Florida. During our many campus visits, I liked FIU and UCF the least.

The Tampa Bay Times asked UCF and they are not confirming the Sumlin hire. However, an announcement is expected soon.

If Candle does go I won’t be mad like I was with Beckman or Campbell. Candle took us to a place us Toledo fans have wished and hoped for for so long. However, if he does decide to go it’s worth us looking at Coach Tom Manning or Jon Heacock.

It would be cool to see Gradkowski as the HC on our sideline, he would be a long term coach. He could then pull Ely from Tiffin and get him experience to and be a HC in waiting like a Bowden/Fisher scenario.

Well, that may bode well for Toledo, because I do not think Jason Candle formally interviewed yet. To date, I think it was only Sumlin. So if there is an announcement soon, it should be Sumlin......... This is like NBA free agency........ but the only real winner here is that douchebag agent Jimmy Sexton who seems to represent all the coaches. The man pockets their contracts and their buyouts.
