Do you want him playing on top high school team in the country this year for his development or do you want him playing for Rob Ehsan this year for his development

You really think most Memphis players can graduate early if they want?

Redshirting the year would be great if we could get him early but I think that's very unlikely.

As for Boyce, I don't think there is a ton of difference between the 2 and 3 and he could play both. Guys like Nick cant play the 3 though.

I do NOT think pickup games are the same as a structured environment with practice & games. Or just practicing with the scout team.

But, probably we'd have to utilize Donnie Tyndall's former assistants to take internet classes for the kid. And I'm not even sure high school internet classes count. Tyndals guys were juco.

RE: Ryan Boyce
I'd prefer him to stay in HS than come to UAB this season. I've seen several kids magically graduate early in Memphis. One of the Lawson kids last year did to play with his brother at Memphis. Also, some kid from Memphis went to Tennesee a year early after he was declared ineligible his Sr year I high school.

Seems shady to me. Plus he would be joining the team late mid season and have absolutely no time to transition end. Wasting a college year.

& his mom might in theory be getting paid money from an assistant coach to get him to play at that particular school.

Could he still end up on the Southside this season? He probably would speed up any potential transfer.

Not everyone can afford prep school nor can everyone graduate high school early. Id say we should hope he wins so there is less uncertainty and he can continue playing with this good, stacked team.
(That incorrectly thinks they could beat Memphis)

You are you. Lol

He knew the rules wouldn't shock me if he lost. Don't think his skill would diminish over a few months if there's a pick up gym somewhere.

Is Boyce a SF or more of a sg? Hoping he's a 3, looks very athletic on video

Both, but he looks more like a three. Size of a sg skill set of a three. I've seen plenty of dunks and transition points. I've rarely seen him shoot it, like the Darling tape.

Well, reality is an early graduation is probably not realistic. But if he did and sat out the year, that would be better than sitting at home & not playing if he loses the hearing today.

And I'm concerned he wont be able to get on somewhere else. Which means he wont be improving much probably. Unless he has a killer work ethic and will do lots of work on his own.

My only point was PLAYING somewhere, outside of pickup ball is best. Next best is to come to UAB and practice with the team but redshirt. But that option is only there if he can magically graduate early.

I doubt he redshirt if he came in early, probably takes Lavender 's minutes.

Lord knows practice makes you so much better.

Boyce is averaging 13 ppg which is low....if it wasn't the #1 team.

Still figured we would have heard something before now even if she was going to take her time to decide. (She will rule, when she rules or something)

He's averaging 13 ppg while playing on the #1 team that also has multiple high major future college players. Only so many shots to go around. His team is also playing a monster schedule so he's lining up against some of the best high school players in the country. I think his experience of playing at such a high level in high school & against top competition will be very beneficial for us when he gets to UAB.

The judge has ruled that the two players can complete the season. For Boyce that is all that is important since he will be at UAB next year. For Wiseman, who is a junior, it affects more directly.

I imagine it is a coaches convention every time they play.
