I have to find the actual article with the quote, because this does not sound like something a coach would say, very hard to believe. If its true, it sounds like there is a huge divide between AD and coach/team. Sounds like Frazier is considered the Grinch that stole Christmas. I side with Frazier on this one, if you have a chance to play a decent opponent, you take that.

I saw this on twitter right away, and I went from excitement about the game and figuring out how to get there in person... to wondering about the motivation if this is how the leader reacts. It's an absolute embarrassment to NIU. This is spoiled child behavior for not getting a new toy that wasn't as nice as little Billy's.

Who the hell would be fired up about going to Detroit? Especially NIU given how many times we’ve played there. Bowl games are supposed to be a chance to play somewhere out of the oridinay, typically where it is warm. Settle down children, he was just being truthful about the players reaction to the destination.

This is a tough chicken and egg argument. In this case I get this feeling like randy mentioned, there was massive player backlash and Carey is trying to be a players coach. But then the question, why do the players have this horrible attitude of not wanting to play the best opponent, and I think it is because they have a leader who is clueless. At least now the mystery of why NIU sucks in bowl games is answered. I am shocked right now, just shocked.
