SEC plays FCS, the Big Slow gets conference game with Rutgers and Illinois. Everything evens out.

Scheduling #3 FSU at a neutral site was on paper a tougher game than Oklahoma at home.

Of course OSU played on the road at Oklahoma the year before, which you will never see Alabama do.

And that type of schedule and should be rewarded. Alabama refuses to travel to a true road game and they should be penalized for there being such big ******* about it

I think we all would like to see the SEC stop playing so many FCS schools and instead play a 10th P5.

That would end all arguments.

The SEC has Vandy and some really mediocre teams programs as well. The Sagarin power rankings were nearly identical for all the P5 conferences.

Alabama is the better team. I agree. tOSU and USC have as much talent as Alabama but were more up and down. Then again they faced a more challenging schedule. Alabama had a schedule like Miami and Wisconsin that made them hard to evaluate. That is increasingly the issue in the SEC as more programs are mediocre these days, and a few are really good -- happens in all leagues, parity is not the norm, talent drifts to the successful programs and instability in the coaching ranks hit the ones who fall short (e.g., Arkansas, A&M, LSU, Florida, Tennessee).

I see the scheduling issue as separate from the individual rankings. Allowing Alabama in this year is the "right" move for the best four schools getting in, but it kicks the scheduling problem can down the road.

Nick Saban says the SEC should play all P5 schools, but he is a hypocrite because he always builds a soft schedule. If he believed what he said he'd schedule a home and home with a P5 opponent and drop the Mercer type opponents from is future schedules.

Nick Saban doesn’t set the schedules. Besides, how many teams really want Bama?

Well the BIG 10 was 4-2 against SEC and ACC out of conference this year, I see why those 2 conferences chose to play 13 FCS teams this year. But hey, if picking on Illinois and Rutgers helps you feel better, more power to you.

If OSU's losses had not been blowouts, I think they would have got in. Or, if OSU won like Clemson, UGA and Ok in their title games, they would be in. OSU just did not do enough.

I agree, as an Ohio State fan I feel the same way.

I don't understand the butthurt. The committee just saved the Big Slow from a third straight semi-finals drubbing.

Is it because you can't be like Miami and kick a FG to avoid two straight shutouts?

But if they had been held out it would have sent a message to the SEC to schedule 10 P5 games like 3 P5 conferences and half the ACC schools.

No, it would have sent a message that politics matter and ESPN determines who gets in.

Now if it was Mississippi St. who was 11-1, would the 2nd SEC team still get in?

It would look bad if that the 4 teams are Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Miami Florida. ESPN have a lot invested into the ACC and SEC. As it is, giving Alabama in as number 4 is rewarding ESPN, and leaving Ohio State out is punishing Fox Sports. ESPN also have invested in the AAC to be the P6 conference as well. Look how much they favor UCF, USF and Memphis over schools like Troy and Toledo. Boise State still have the love with ESPN because ESPN still have money invested in them.

Well they could have invited Ohio St. in a controversial decision for the 3rd time in 4 years and proven that wins and losses on the field don't matter, just how many allies you have on the playoff committee.
