What constitutes a real OOC? Apparently, in the P5, most teams have powder puff schedules and get a pass because they are P5

Playing teams with actual winning records would be a start. ;-)

Come on man....... you actually think that having a OOC schedule with teams with winning records would have made them get more respect in the CFP? Secondly, if this team wins in the NY6, what makes you think they would have lost to a few more teams OOC just because they have a winning record. Do you realize how hard it is to be undefeated......even in the G5?

UCF probably getting an Auburn or PSU in the Bowl game. They got a shot I suppose, but probably will lose by two scores.

I think they get Wisconsin and run all over them. Don't think Wisconsin can score with them.

Blocked kick toward the end of the game, double OT. Highest scoring championship game in history.

Meanwhile the B1G an MAC Championship games were duds.

Definitely better than the Big XII rematch

UCF should be in the playoffs

Why, because they proved they could hold the #20 team to 55 points and 750 yards?

Yeah, that screams "playoffs!", LOL

Yeah...meanwhile the intimidating TCU defense completely shut down the Oklahoma offense....cuz defense win championships.

Interesting stats. Oklahoma's defense is #61. The TCU defense is #18. By the way, the top G5 defense is UTSA (#7). The Oklahoma offense is #1. The Memphis offense is #5 and UCF is #6. Looks to me like you can win championships by scoring a crap load of points.

UCF was lucky to beat USF or Memphis, much less both. Gave up 650 yrds to one, 750 to other. Was really just fortunate the games were at home. None of that screams playoff worthy.

Yet they beat them both. Hell, they beat Memphis twice.

Quo,
Will you root for UCF if an SEC team is the opponent?

I "hate" UCF and always want them to fail, unless there is direct benefit to USF (e.g., UCF wins a game and that means USF goes to a bowl, etc.) and even then I'll hold my nose.

So i will be rooting against UCF no matter who the opponent is and what conference they come from.

Yes, which is why they earned the NY6 bid. But beating two lower-ranked teams in such underwhelming, lucky, skin of teeth fashion, where home field advantage was statistically the difference both times, doesn't speak to playoff worthiness.

So that talk should be completely dead. 07-coffee3

Everyone spewed the same 'weak schedule, they'll get killed' crap about Boise, Utah, Hawaii, UCF, Houston, etc and they were terribly wrong every time except for Hawaii. Give them a shot. Every other sport would.

01-wingedeagle I'd root for USF against anyone in any bowl game, NY6 or otherwise. Hope we get to face an SEC team in our bowl game like last year, as long as its not in the Birmingham (bleak and rusty) or the St Pete (drive across the Howard Frankland Bridge Road Trip for our guys) bowls.

I'd say with 16 teams, not 8. Too weak of a schedule, and two skin-of-teeth home wins against the only two decent teams they played.

So what, the AAC is not an FCS level conference and has produced a number of ranked teams over the past few years. They won all of their games, which is more than what anyone else could say, that's all that should matter. Not saying it makes them one of the four best teams but do we have to go through this charade every few years? A few years ago they went 12-1 and beat the Big 12 champion. This isn't BYU playing no one and then being overranked.

It can't be all you matter, because who you play isn't a small thing, it's literally everything.

E.g., if this exact same UCF team that went 12-0 vs the Sagarin #83 schedule had played the Philadelphia Eagles 12 times, they'd be 0-12.

Exact same team, 100% different records, purely based on who they played.

So we always have to weigh SOS mightily in our account. Going 9-3 vs schedule A may be a much tougher accomplishment than 12-0 vs schedule B.

They went undefeated in an average conference. Going undefeated is not easy, not even outside the top tier leagues. I'm not even advocating for a playoff spot, that they didn't come close is ridiculous.

Do we have to do this every few years? These type of teams have proven they can win at the highest levels except the national title because they'll never be given a shot.
