RE: Memphis game thread - 17th time's a charm
Lee is a joke at this point.
Maybe the most disappointing player I've watched at uab relative to his talent, potential, and athleticism.

Yeah, over 1100 points as a Blazer with 14 points/12 rebounds during our only NCAA tournament win in 10 years. Obviously a joke

Relative to his talent and potential...
Played on one of the worst regular season uab teams, teams have regressed yearly after a CUSA tourney championship and NCAA tourney win, hasn't gotten better over time, regularly disappears, very lackadaisical on the court most of the time in general..

And yes it's a good thing to beat Memphis. Congrats to the team for getting that monkey off their back.
Was this the worst d1 team we've played?

Yeah, attendance is terrible. But its so easy to sit at home & watch on your computer.
Yeah...I’m sure those in Bham that aren’t at the game are watching online.
Those that can be there and aren’t, just don’t care
The facebook feed was watched by a total of about 3,000 people.
EDIT: I was wrong by a lot. The highest number I ever saw was a little under 3k at one time, but the feed itself claims to have gotten 263k unique views over the course of the game.

RE: Memphis game thread - 17th time's a charm
Lee got in foul trouble early so sat most of the first & just never got in the flow. It's a good thing we didn't need him tonight & others came through, IIRC everyone who played scored. Cokely was the beast early on but settled down in the 2nd. Memphis made a run w/ 3's in the 2nd but we stayed composed & ran it out hitting some key ft's. Wasn't the best but we played better from tip to final horn.

Just back from the best game I have seen in over 4000 days.
Don't want to hear about how bad Memphis is, they are still Memphis....they have beaten us like drums, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, dirty rugs....and MEMPHIS dont say, you know that was the worst UAB team we have beaten in over 4000 DAYS......Good job....and remember MEMPHIS over 4000 days have beaten some BAD UAB TEAMS.
Go Blazers...rebounder2u

Agreed. Troy will be favored, and Auburn will be heavily favored.
Big win for UAB tonight. Say what you want about Memphis, they are still ranked above 9 teams in C-USA.

That means with this team we shouldn't lose more thanv2-3 games in conference, but we will end up around .500

Yep. I have no confidence this team will come out and do that with any regularity.

RE: Memphis game thread - 17th time's a charm
Great win whether Memphis is that good or not. Our defense dropped off in the 2nd half which didn’t make me happy. But overall it was a good performance. Compared to much of CUSA, they are at least as good if not better than most.
We have played tremendously better at home whichever isn’t important. Winning on the road is going to be the challenge and we will get a good test against Troy.

RE: Memphis game thread - 17th time's a charm
Kudos to Makhtar Gueye, who played fourteen minutes, scored six points, made both of his free throws, had zero turnovers, grabbed two rebounds and had only two fouls. According to the statistics he had a better night than William Lee, that's for sure. It is good to see this young and talented freshman come in and play. Trust me, as the season progresses, Makhtar is going to become a vital component for this team that determines their over all success, especially in conference play and in the conference tournament.
